Now that sounds like the ideal way for things to work!
You get your knife in the quickest possible time, have a chance to carry and use it, decide if you want some extra work done on it and if so, what options you will go with, then just send it back in for a relatively timely upgrade or two. Cool!
Now for a few questions;
I am assuming that the inlays will be slightly raised above the handle slabs?
Will the woods be stabilized?
Will you be able to do stag (that would just be too awesome!) if it is shipped back with the knife or am I just opening a huge can of worms with customer supplied material and getting my hopes up?
