Winner...And Still Heavyweight Champion...The Venerable Buck 110

Here are my only two Buck 110s.

Here is my one and only Buck 111 of course based on the Buck 110.

Here is the first Buck I ever bought, at the Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake in July 1976 during a cross-country family vacation. This one is a veteran of many campaigns.

lambertiana that is a nice looking two dot, four pin version. Its nice to know that you bought it in 1976, there have been descusions about when that version came out. this would make about 1975, to 1976 depending on the turn over rate of merchandise from that store. HL

I remember it being Wolfs Sporting Goods in Orem. At least that's where I got mine.

Alas, mine is no longer. I gave it to the BIL years ago, and he left it in his brief case in his car, the car on a trailer towed behind the truck, the night before moving. That night someone broke into the car and stole the brief case. I wouldn't mind having that 110 back, it went a lot of places with me.

I agree with you when it comes to the click on/off switch models; which is on every model they make above the AA models. The AAA and AA with the twist on/off heads are more reliable and durable. I would go with a Surefire, but I do not want a flashlight that doesn't use batteries I can buy at any local store. I wish Surefire would make a AA model. In my opinion, AAs are the best. They last longer than AAAs, and unlike the 123s, can be purchased quite literally anywhere. The beauty of the AA MAG-LITE is that it will burn Ni-Cds, alkalines, and my favorites, the Energizer ultimate lithiums.

I have 3 Surefire flashlights, and I love them. I use them all the time outdoors and so far I haven't found anything better. A box of 12 of the 123's run $21 at the Surefire website. A bit pricey for sure, but they seem to have a decent life. Just my opinion, of course. :)

Went to visit my grand parents this weekend and my grandad gave me his old 110. I was raised by my grandparents and remember this knife when from when my grandad would take my little brother and I hunting with him. We always argued over who go to carry the Buck 110 (I usually got to since I was older)

I started looking for info on how to tell when the knife was made and that lead me to this forum.

Anyway here is my 1980 110

I like to tell folks when the steel discussion comes up, 420, S30V, 1095, etc., doesn't really matter; when I lop your head off with my blade, your neck will likely not care what steel was used. Too many folks put too much concern into steel. Unless you're packing a blade make in the 1800s and swimming with it every day, you'll likely not have any issues with it as long as you take care of it. Also, for those who say the 110 is too heavy for EDC, might I suggest you head to the gym. Long live the 110!

Here's a few more 110's

I got a Buck 110 a couple of months ago. It´s my EDC since the first day on. I love the knive for its quality and handiness. A little bit heavy, but I like that.

Kind regards...

These are only a few of my favorites. I have a pile of them, factory & customized... enjoy...

I just got a first version first variation (I'm obsessed with this knife, I customize them and sell them often) and it's a lightweight (.085 blade and lock) compared to the early 80's or even modern 110's. (Unless its one of my carbon fiber versions ha!)
