Ok. Fine. The winner of the Winter Camp Contest is Stabman.
Congratulations!! You have most certainly earned the BK7!!! Erik and I really liked your posts, and everything you did during the contest time frame. You hit all the key points/requirements even if the suckage wasn't all that extreme. It still rocked!!! Thank you!!!
We also recognized that a Becker was sacrificed in the process so we couldn't leave you Becker-less after all this.
As for Bearfacedkiller's most excellent suckage; your contribution to a successful thread did not go unnoticed. Erik has offered up something for you as well here. I will let him post what he plans to award you. So Congrats and Thanks!!!
TheMadIndian, we really liked what you did during the contest but what really set it apart was that you got the young one involved in your outings! It was a great giveaway, and it was great to see people getting out there and doing stuff.
Excellent that two others are getting prizes also, as they certainly deserve them. :thumbup:
That extra bit of generosity--which comes out of left field at times to surprise us all in a good way--is a huge part of what makes this such a great place to hang out.
There are many cyberspace areas we could be at instead, but this place feels the best.

I wasn't sure if the knife breaking would be a bad thing...it did document a moment of monumental stupidity on my part.
The way in which it broke should comfort us all though, as even before it was fixed, it was still a useable knife...and that was in the face of the dumbest abuse possible.
No one should have worries about their Becker knife failing when they need it most; I sure won't. :thumbup:
I was really shocked that I managed to get out that much this month; normally, plans fall through, schedules conflict, or someone gets sick.
This time, things worked out better than I had hoped for with people being available.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed coming along for the journey as much as I enjoyed being there.
And thanks again for the generosity of those running the contest, and for getting us off our butts and out into the world! :thumbup:

I was thinking I really appreciate the fact you guys enjoy my kid being out but she's got that desire I don't have to drag her out, her younger brother on the other hand So I didn't post a different trip with her but for a little more suck even though its non becker knife related here's one more share, this outing drove my daughter and I to the setup she used in the negative temps boosted by two reflectix pads and a snow suit and good wool socks with her snugpak under quilt and top quilt. She's done a lot of at home tests now with her new snugpak setup and was out all day and to the wee hours of the morning, I admire her determination and I will no longer assume what works for me will work for her in this case the MSS and ironically the snugpak doesn't keep me warm, I got in during one of her tests at 24F and was freezing lol

It was close - really close, but stabman broke a knife, didn't snivel about it, manned up that he did something stupid and then remade the knife so it was still usable.
(plus all the utensils he made while out and about)
all of that together put him over the top.
bearfaced killer - it was a really close race. mountain climbing in a sneet storm, frozen snot hanging off your nose, and sleeping in a snow shelter you dug out of the hillside with a snowshoe and a Becker! plus catching your food and prepping it with......... a BK&T knife.
so your prize is a KaBarley and your choice of Kabar Dozier folders - the 4065 zg with thumb opening hole, or the 4072 small folding hunter with orange scales.

I told my daughter, she's over the moon, she's going on about where to put the patch, looking at the folders online and asking when next northeast gathering is so she can show off her swag as she put it LOL. thanks man seriously

Yeah, this made me smile. As a winter lover I am super happy to see a young one out winter camping and testing some winter gear. With that in mind, did she seem to be more interested in one folder over the other? I am pretty flexible.
