got my pattern transferred onto some steel last night for the mini cutlass...I'm calling it the cutlet. Once I have it profiled, and the material for the cutlass arrives, I'll transfer the profile over to the bigger piece and get started on that.
At that thickness and width, it seems like a good bit of weight out front. More of a slow chopper, than a fast blade for light material. Then again, every blade of this sort is optimized for the extant vegetation.
the cutlet version will be very similar to the LC in weight and feel. The cutlass will not only be longer, but wider and with thinner stockAt that thickness and width, it seems like a good bit of weight out front. there's a sharpening choil but it will only be large enough to serve that function only. The contouring will be pretty interesting and that's what I'm looking forward to the most when it comes time to do the testingYes, it should be interesting to see.
Also curious to see how he contours the scales to work with the straight spine and finger area. Perhaps a wrap?
Cool see that it is choiless!!

I was just thinking of Cliff Stamp's (RIP) satire video, "Now, some maekers put the sharp end on the wrong soide, which maekes it hard to hould... but that's just moy opinion..."I guess you're going to have to engrave it with "This side toward enemy"...
Just sayin'.
Definitely, quite a characterOl' Cliff was a piece of work. I had a few battles with him, mostly one sided since he refused to engage. R.I.P. One of a kind.
