So I recently completed a trade with Wolfsnagel. He initially offers up a Curtiss F3 as trade for a Zieba S5. I agree. Then he says that he feels his knife is more expensive and asks if I have any other knives I can include. I offer up a user PM2 and a NIB Buck 110LT. After some negotiation I agreed to trade him my Zieba S5 Wilson Combat Edition, a Spyderco PM2 with a custom backspacer, and a Buck 110 LT in exchange for a Large Curtiss F3.

Here is my sale thread, but Wolfsnagel did not comment in it so I am unable to leave feedback. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/traded-zieba-s5-wilson-combat-edition.1617676/#post-18477922

Through the discussion I specifically asked about lockup and he advised that the lockup was solid and no blade play. I receive the knife and notice that there is lock rock/up and down blade play. I reach out to Wolfsnagel and ask about his end of deal and advise that I like the knife but I'm disappointed that there is lock rock. He initially ignores my statement and says he is satisfied with trade. I then reach out again and say I'm not satisfied due to the lock rock. He advises that he told me the truth and advised that he received the knife from ShadyMethods and was satisfied with it at the time. I find the thread in which ShadyMethods had the Curtiss F3 listed, and he disclosed the lock rock at that time as well. The thread from ShadyMethods is linked below to show that he did disclose the lock rock in his ad. I share the linked thread with Wolfsnagel and advise that although the lock rock was disclosed prior to him owning the knife, he advised me that lockup was solid with no blade play. He responded that he considers my claims baseless and has since ignored my messages to him.

I am sending a link to this thread to Wolfsnagel so he can feel free to come defend himself. I'll screenshot the PM's if I have to. Also, I would like a moderator to reach out to me and let me know if I can leave feedback for Wolfsnagel, the system won't let me since he did not comment in my thread.

A trade deal is not done until BOTH parties are satisfied. Hopefully after seeing this thread, he will do the right thing...
I agree with you absolutely! I think our deal was satisfactory. Here is message after receiving the knife:
"Hello, Just wanted to make sure everything on your end is OK as far as the trade goes. I received the Curtiss on Monday and I've been playing around with it. I like the knife and overall am satisfied, my only gripe is that it has just a little bit of lock rock if really forced, but not really an issue and I am considering reaching out to Dave to see about warranty work. But I wanted to make sure everything is satisfactory on your end. Thanks."

The dude gets a knife, writes that he is pleased, and three days later a "terrible blade play" appears. How can I believe his words after that?

Please point out where I say "terrible blade play." Blade play is blade play. How can we believe what you say where a knife was clearly advertised to you as having blade play, and you tell me, and I quote "The action is smooth, the lock is solid, no blade play."

I was advising of the lock rock, giving you a chance to address it and fix the situation, you ignored the comment. I was under the impression that maybe you were not aware of the lock rock when you traded the knife, but then I learned that it was disclosed to you that way, so now of course I'm no longer pleased. Again, I like the knife, but I would not have traded for it if the lock rock was disclosed up front.

You have absolutely no leg to stand on. The knife was advertised as having blade play when you obtained it, and you not only didn't disclose that information, but you intentionally misled me and told me that that there was no blade play. I tried to give you every opportunity to make this right. I thought maybe you would offer to pay for shipping to get it warrantied, or reimburse my shipping expense to Ukraine. Both small tokens that would've satisfied me. I wasn't that upset at the time, but that was before I knew about the lock rock being disclosed prior to you owning the knife.

Why do we keephaving these issues ... A DEAL SHOULD NOT BE DONE UNTIL BOTH PARTIES ARE SATISFIED ... I have even reversed a deal just because the buyer had second thoughts on the size of the knife .. and yes he new the exact measurements going in ...

but as a part of the community I reversed it ... I did ask he pay the return shipping because there wasn't an actual issue with the function of the knife ...

one part stated he was bothered by lock rock ... which the other party must have misrepresented intentionally ... being as it was stated to him when he bought it already in the earlier transaction.

Be adults pull up our big girl panties and just undo a broken deal ... lets not make another 12 page thread over this.

There my rant is over ... just do what's right ... SMH

The fellow obviously tried to broach the subject with you gently, hoping you would man up, which you didn't do. How can you believe his word? Because it's clear as day it had the problem when you sold it to him, that's how. The seller you bought it from disclosed it for everyone to see. Fix the problem.

Sir, you've contradicted yourself with these 2 posts. You clearly show that he states about the blade play in the email to you after receiving the knife, then in next post you that it was mentioned 3 days later. It looks like he was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt about knowing of the blade play. Do you not see why he'd be a little upset when the thread you got the knife from explicitly mentions blade play yet you told him there was none.

Most of us here would call that a lie.

PS. Offering something and then wanting to renegotiate after the offer is accepted is a big no go for me. I've only had that happen once. They wanted to renegotiated the amount of cash that was coming to me after we've already agreed to the deal and exchanged addresses. I politely hit the stop button right then and there.
It was a red flag for either someone trying to get one over on me, or someone that does not know how to conduct business. Either way, pass.

I'm in your boat, but feel the need to mention this.

If you are not satisfied with your end of the deal, name YOUR terms for rectification first and then go from there. Wishing and hoping that they'll come up with something to satisfy you will generally not happen since they're probably already happy.

If his quote of your email in post #5 is accurate (and if what I set in bold were you thoughts prior to what's underlined), then I can see why he wouldn't think he would need to offer anything on his end as it sounds like you're fine with the trade even with the blade play. Of course, that get's thrown out the window after he lied about it.

I don’t disagree. I’m not saying I handled this 100% properly from the beginning. And maybe I should have told him what I expected or wanted. But I’ve had a couple issues and everyone until now has offered to make it right. I’ve done it on my end as well.

If it was a situation where he was unaware of the issue when he sent it to me, I could’ve looked past that and chalked it up as bad luck or maybe something happened in transit. But when I found out that there was lock rock prior to him owning it and he was aware of it, that all went out the window.

No maybe about it. It appears that you were attempting to passively insinuate to the other guy that you were in fact not pleased, when originally you had stated that you were. Wolf is also in the wrong for misrepresenting a knife. Next time, I would advise you to be clear on what you want.

I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. It doesn’t do any good to start throwing accusations around right off the bat. I didn’t know at that time that he had knowingly misrepresented the knife. I found that out a couple days later. Changed everything about it if you ask me.

Well, at least now you know for the future that when you receive a knife, your job is to do a full inspection of the knife IMMEDIATELY upon receipt. There are a lot of folks who sell on the Exchange every day who knowingly or unknowingly misrepresent knives, but at the end of the day, whatever you find that's not as described is on them. I'm not really sure where you go from here, because now that this whole situation is public, and you had initially told the other guy that you were good with the knife, you've kinda claimed it. Wolfguy could tell a mod that now it feels like buyer/trader's remorse, especially given that you're the one who got worked in this trade deal.
