Women and Knives: Why More Women Need To Carry A Blade

I don't really care either way about "women and knives", "men and knives", or "trannies with go karts". If a woman speaks on a subject I'm interested in, I look for the same thing I look for when guys talk about it: worthwhile idea or information exchange. Outfit, body type, hair... innuendo...

...

... are irrelevant. If anything, that stuff says "I'm half a step away from stripping", and makes me inclined to think those go to gimmicks indicate a lack of substance to offer.

Limalife is a great example. She had outstanding content on her YouTube channel. She wasn't "a great female youtuber". She was a great producer, period. She had things of value to say, and knew how to construct her points. Instead of being a skin channel (like soulsurvivorx2), hers was a true resource.

ha ha ha! Trannies with go karts? that one sounds pretty interesting indeed! This is very good what you say here and I respect your words. Very intelligent! Sounds like you have character and morals. Good for you! Blessings to you and yours and thank you for sharing your thoughts. You made me smile!

I agree with you. I do feel, however, that many people (unfortunately) are afraid of guns and so the choice of a knife is easier. It's smaller. Easier to manage. You don't have to get a permit, license, or registration or take classes...you can use it for other things, etc. So in reality, even though a gun would probably be a better choice for self defense (a knife has many other uses besides self defense, as you are aware), it seems to me (and I could be wrong) more people, particularly women, would feel more comfortable with a blade as opposed to a gun. Yet, with all the news over the past two years on guns and gun bans and so forth, I feel more people have been taking a genuine interest in guns than in times past. Thoughts?

1. If my goal is to avoid having to apply lethal force, I desire the best available deterrent. Firearms are scarier than knives. Note that I'm not advocating drawing for the purpose of scaring people. There have been times (including a personal experience) where a timely presentation prevented things from going from "ability, opportunity, jeopardy" to "somebody died". In my situation, pulling a knife instead of a firearm probably results in the other guy shooting me.

2. Knives are far more dangerous to employ defensively. You pull a knife, he hits you with a bat. You pull a knife, he pulls a gun. You pull a knife and cut him, he knocks you to the ground, smacking your head on linoleum, you get stunned, he opens you up with your knife. A big issue here is that you need to be within contact distance to use it. When you don't know the other person's level of ability or preparation, that can be suicide.

Just some quick hits.

I just looked one of those up you mentioned. Looks like she definitely stays 'a breast' of things. I hope her knife never slips, or there might be an apocalyptic explosion! :-) The United States of America would be devastated, to say the least. :):):) I think I'm hip on just staying a little less a-Breast of some things. It's just more efficient and more functional. ;) And, makes the most sense.

I absolutely agree with the last part.

I have seen everything from an 83 year old lady who signed up and attended the class by herself to 20 year olds getting ready for when they turn 21 to apply for their license.

There has been a very strong interest in concealed carry here in Illinois, as it just recently began issuing concealed carry licenses.

I do present several knife options to my classes; being prepared is key.

I also advocate carrying a source of light, and a backup for everything.

Wow! 83 years old? That's cool! Yes, everyone is on me about getting a gun... and some say to me, "You do what you do and you don't have a gun???" And, even my radio show/news partner who lives in AZ has a gun, and she's much younger than me. Thanks for the great info. I appreciate it. I'm here to share, and to learn..so never opposed to feedback, thoughts, disagreement with my thoughts, actions, etc. We never stop learning, and we only learn by reaching out, listening, communicating, and by being wrong. Thanks so much again.:)

California is soooo different. Obtaining a concealed permit is next to impossible in much of the state.

The sexiest women I personally know (or have known), in addition to carrying a blade, also drive a 4x4, carry a concealed firearm, and know how to operate a chainsaw (among other things, of course).

Uh, Charlie Mike is very knowledgeable in the realm of knives and is he is single;) Had to through that in there just for good measure. Truthfully, I think most women should carry some sort of knife. Imo a multitool would serve more purposes. Once you carry one you feel naked without it.

Mqqn,

I enjoy your posts. Thank you.

Thank you!

The 83 year young lady was funny.

She told me that her husband did not like guns, so she said, and I quote "I told him that if anything happened he better not think he can hide behind ME!"

I didn't know what to say. She was a very spirited lady. She did well with her gun handling and shooting.

I've always thought that a girl who can weld is hot... thanks to watching "Flashdance" as a kid.

Thank you!

I love what you said.. 83 years young! I worked for Hospice and Retirement communities since 1994 to the end of 2013. I wrote a book titled The Old People (under the name Christina Ferris) back in 2004 and used to travel all over speaking on senior rights and abuse/neglect of the elderly. I am the only one, besides you just now, who i have ever heard say "xxx years young" Kudos and blessings! How thoughtful of you. I am an advocate for senior citizens, the sick, and the helpless. God bless you!

My paternal grandmother (93) holding a knife I had recently restored. It was my grandfather's combat knife.

ha ha ha ha ha! Yep! So many people have this false illusion of senior citizens as weak, silly, and ignorant. NOT AT ALL! As I mentioned above here, I have worked with senior citizens..thousands..even wrote a book about them! And I can tell you first hand, they are definitely not weak, not silly, and not ignorant whatsoever! In fact, most of them are pistols, so to speak <smile>

Does she do all that at the same time???? ha ha ha! :pirate:
