Thuya Burl - both, though the selection of wood for the knife handle not so special. The trinket box was a Christmas gift many years ago.

Knife purchase - a year ago, spending New Year in Malaga, sunny Spain, we visited a few places............strangely, an invisible hand guided me into this knife shop.
