Talking to a good knifey pal of mine who has dealt internationally for many years - the USA border control (don't recall their precise name) have started clamping down on such goods and will potentially impound until the correct certificate of origin has been produced (animal products in particular) to satisfy them to clear its onward journey.....both in and out of the country.
