Great pic as well. I tried to PM as you before, but it seems you disabled PM. To address your question, it's best to use PM, or PM me your email and cut it back off. I could have swore we've spoken several times via PM. Not sure what's going on. Look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry about that HST, it should be OK now. I never thought I'd have to restrict my PMs, but...let's just say that some of our recent members are not of the calibre we usually get here

Like a child at Christmas, I opened this great package from our friend Jack, who has a knack for staying on topic!:D

Two genuine issue lanyards, a handy anchor if your Rope knife doesn't have a cap-lifter;), a beautiful ha'penny, and a couple dozen postcards with wonderful real and mythological ships and views of same.
Thanks very much, Jack!
The great objets d'cut you have sent me over the years have outgrown a wall display I have. I will have to do something about that!

Thanks Duncan :) They probably have Popeye locked in a room somewhere making those lanyards! :D

Wish I could do that Ropework also, Duncan.
Imagine the dozens of busy little hands making those!! I doubt those knots are machine made!!

In the early 1990's, in my capacity as a climbing journalist, I was given a tour of the Marlow ropes factory (http://www.marlowropes.com/), which was very interesting. Some of the ropes are used for securing liners and oil rigs and incredibly thick. I remember seeing an old feller who was splicing the end by hand, working quickly, but with incredible skill. I dare say, whoever made those lanyards must have tied a few knots in their time! I thought they looked like they'd been shaved! :D

Shaved?
When my brother does a splice he tapers the ends of the (I can't think of the word) so the splice tapers down to the width of the original rope.

Jack Black, you are the best!

:D I really feel like one of the cool kids now, with my own British Navy rope knife lanyard! (are these still part of regulation gear?)

Jack also thoughtfully enclosed a Boker tree pin. I suppose because the Boker knives I find are so often missing their shields. :(

Thank you so much, Jack. :)

This thread is full of great knives, people, and gratuity. [emoji106][emoji41][emoji106]

I think he is simply trying to ply you so you will scrim him a tree shield for his Boker. :D ;)

This place is the greatest, innit? :)

:D It could happen, if I can get ahold of another ivory disc.
The red pin would make a fine shield on a larger knife.

I'm glad it arrived r8shell, I posted off half a dozen packages a few weeks ago, and yours is the last to arrive. Yep, still part of the RN uniform

Thankfully, all my Boker knives still have their shields :)
