D-Day has renewed my interest in WWI. Time to wake up this thread!!

One of the most interesting threads we've had here I think Charlie, I hope all the early pics are still in place

Gorgeous display Charlie. How many others are there?

If anyone has a Napanoch, Valley Forge, Miller Bros or Empire or one not heard of, please post them!!

Charlie, looks like you're back in full force! What a fine display :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Augie Augie , thanks for the missing one. :)
A question : why do older knives have jigged bone that always look so warmer than the new ones?
Alain, I think using potassium permanganate to darken the bone and carrying them or rubbing them with a little oil maybe, has something to do with old bone and stag looking so good!!

Good to see you posting Charlie. Welcome home.

I have picked up a relatively nice NYK, with the Hammer Brand stamp on the master and the usual New York Knife stamp on the file.

Also, a Camillus with Sword Brand on the master and four line on the file.

And an IKCO in the parallelogram and black composition handles.

The Sword Brand and IKCO are rough.

There was a nice W. R. Case on Ebay recently, but I was outbid.

The manufacturers list I sent Charlie came straight from LG-IV, with the addition of the somewhat recently discovered Thomaston. I now think there are multiples of those that have surfaced.

There is a very nice Robeson for auction on the internet.

Seller states, "Mint", but it has been cleaned to a mirror polish, as have other knives he's listed as "Mint" or "Near Mint".

Robeson put a glaze finish on this pattern.

Not official Navy..... but I recently made this Rope Knife for Leo Goolden. Leo has been restoring the hundred year old sailing ship TALLY HO. He sent me a piece of one of the ribs he's replacing for me to use for the handle. It's English Oak - and was black from a century of being soaked with diesel oil and seawater. I made the knife as a gift to Leo to support the ongoing restoration and as a way of saying thanks for his inspiring work.

He's got a great series of videos (over fifty to date) documenting the restoration. Check them out Sampson Boat Co

Knife is O1 carbon steel; nickel silver liners, pins and bolsters; coin silver escutcheon

Saludos
