The kid will be up and at 'em in no time PSY.

Struck out at Ft. Campbell on the ammo boxes Gus. Saw thousands of them but nothing the right size.

On a separate note: Somebody pour me a nice tall glass of urine. I actually like this thing.

No worries Trade. Thanks for looking.

So, you really like that rig?

I know. Of course I'll have to strip it, re-handle it and have a sheath made to get rid of all the evidence, but damn if it's not a decent chopper. This is the "compact" one as I wanted something little and light. And could flip pancakes. :D

Hope your kid gets better soon Psy.

I've been having a long ass day today. Aside from being stressed out because of finals for school I also have a high fever and a monstrous headache that won't go away... Math was never my strong point, that test went terrible.

Needless to say, I couldn't be more proud of my babygirl!!!

Outstanding

Congrats man. It's good to see girls getting into the maths and sciences.

Agreed! Heck, it's good to see anyone going into math and science. Not everyone can be a knifemaker, someone has to actually build nations :p

I should have just replaced the whole thing. I was trying to save money.

Been there, done that. I'm pretty much convinced that most remodeling projects should start with several gallons of kerosene and a ZIPPO.

I think those actually got pretty decent reviews, iirc.

I never really had a negative opinion about the BG Parang as a concept. But the execution on the first production was a disaster. And then there's the color scheme & not too subtle self promotion. I'm sure it'll chop about as well as any other similar sized blade with similar geometry. But I know I can get something as good for about the same price & not have to change the handle & sheath just to get rid of the logos.

Personally, I'd rather give my money to Condor or Martindale.

Wasn't that the one that kept shearing off right in front of the handle when being used to chop?

Yep, thems the ones. But I read that they recalled them and "fixed" the problem. I'm not sure how they "fixed" it, unless they tossed out the fpr & started over with a better design & better steel.

for you trad fans, here's a rough-finish blade I stuck in the kitchen block tonight:

I had an old beat USA-made Nicholson file... so a few months back I threw it in the woodstove to anneal, and ground and heat-treated it. It's been sitting around, and I decided to throw together this rough-finish knife before my upcoming hiatus.

It's 3/32" thick by 6" long with old-growth white oak and a cocobolo bolster.
The oak was cut from my mom's 150-yr-old oak tree limbs that fell during the Halloween snowpacolypse two years ago.

You're worse than Flexxx! At least he liked sheep! Why would you do that to a poor bird! Choke the chicken I mean hell we all get lonely but BONE the chicken... That's just sick!

hey, it's tfields who's all over the chicken.

I won't tell you the obscene second-hand tale of inner-city 'animal husbandry' I was... 'exposed' to as a young impressionable child on a college grounds crew... let's just say I learned a lot of unprintable Spanish that summer. Those guys cracked me up.
