Well crap. Doesn't look like we'll get to make Blade after all. Too much "responsible adult" stuff to do to get away. Those that are going, have a blast and travel safe.

Your inner child is telling you to go to Pappadeaux's.

Don't worry man. I'll eat enough for the both of us.
In other eating news, my Sportsman's Grill just shipped.

I wound up keeping the Whisperlite International just to have around in case of a prolonged power outage.
I like its tank-like construction. Simmering isn't impossible--hard, but not impossible. It won't see as much use as my other stoves, most likely, but I like having the ability to burn lots of fuels.
I may pick up the Coleman Dual Fuel two-burner at some point. Small Fart carries it for under $100.

I looked at the Whisperlite Universal (burns both liquid and isobutane), but it was twice the price I paid for the Whisperlite International.
I'm intrigued by the Dragonfly multi-fuel, but it too is pricier. Reviews seemed mixed, just like with the Whisperlite.

Honestly, given that I have kids and am not out doing week-long trips, I'm more likely to throw a canister stove in the pack for a 1-2 night trip.
I'm really liking that Micro Rocket kit.

Coconut shrimp and a side order of dirty rice. Big Sam Adams draft. Crème brulee and coffee. This alone is worth the drive.

Kinda have come to the same conclusion. Love the XGK for melting snow in the winter and the Dragonfly offers similar heat output and fuel versatility with better simmering (although it is a more complicated stove), but for more casual trips I'm turning to the canister stoves.

Micro rocket is incredible when you consider it's size and weight. We are also big fans of the Reactor. That thing really works..

I see where Cold Steel Knives has checked out this thread. They may not have liked my "there goes the neighborhood" comment. :p :D
I actually have two or three CS knives I like though--original Master Hunter in Carbon V, Pendleton Hunter (older AUS8 version), even one of their cheap machetes is pretty good.
I handled and liked that Lawman that Moose had.

I used to hate the idea of just chucking those canisters into a land fill. But these things really do work...

Thinking about getting an Emmrod fishing rod. Sent them a message on the website to ask about which rod would be best for my uses.

Got an email back less than 10 minutes later with a solid recommendation... from the President of the company no less.

Been thinking of getting one of those myself. Tradewater has one.
