by the way did that guy get banned? this had to be some kind of infraction, especially sending threats in pm's or threatening pms, whatever.

I don't know but this thread has become much more coherent since I put the OP on ignore.

So I guess the imperfect centering on that first knife was not a pivot tightness issue because you said you would return to the maker for repair. So if a customer had bought that knife online I guess they'd probably have been disappointed.

The maker is being asked to fixed the scuffed anodized liners. That is not something easily fixed because it must be re anodized. The centering issue is just not having the proper tool to adjust.

NjBillK- good thought thanks for reminding me. that list unfortunately grows longer.
thanks, Neal

The knife runs on the IKBS bearing system. Due to the smoothness of the bearing system there is a pretty significant impact when the knife is flipped open.

Honestly sounds like it's your bad
You should always check which ever knife you buy..especially a custom
Plus you flipped it a bunch??? Lol
Easily could have scratched it..

Well first if I ever get down to the Seattle area this store will be high on the list of stops to make.

Second maybe it's time for one of the more in the know folks to write up a bit of a "My First Expensive Custom Knife" book, or if there one on here now to put a reminder up. It seems like a lot of these meltdowns could be prevented with a bit of knowledge; now it seems like there's a prevailing attitude that the more expensive something is the less care you need to take with it. Spending $800 automatically grants you a hard use item that you can bash around with impunity.

To me some of the very expensive customs look more like collection pieces/Sunday drivers vs. living in your pocket day in day out and getting banged around. Nothing wrong with liking nice knives that look like jewelry but it's sure a good idea to be fully aware of intended us prior.

Otherwise you're that guy using a Ferrari as a lawn mower and angry that the grass isn't even.

I was going to type this . The few customs I own or have handled flip with more force than productions . One custom flipper I have the maker has told me because of the size of the blade as well as how smooth the action is it WILL get lock rock or blade play one day .

People spending that kind of money on a custom want it perfect time and rightfully so . If we are being honest here I would have a hard time buying a custom even if it's perfect IF it's been returned .

Yeah, it was my first knife show and was well worth it, even though I hadn't planned on a purchase once I met Brad Larkin of Bradford Knives in person it was all too easy to buy one of his sweet Guardian3s. Your show was instrumental in kicking my knife purchases up a notch, and I'm glad of it. 10/10 would go again :)

@KingMC: I'm really glad you enjoyed the show. I love Brad Larkin's work. I think the Bradford knives are some of the best EDCs out there.

^^^Matsuda San makes some nice knives! Thick blade stock, and pretty heavy, but still nice:thumbup:

@Blues Bender - Wow!! That is a beautiful photo of one of Kikuo's knives. Did you take it or find the photo somewhere?

First sign that there was a problem with the OP was that he literally didn't know where he was...BladeGallery is in Kirkland, not Kent :)

I've been to Daniel's shop more times than i can count - he provides excellent service and products, period.

BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT BUY ANY CUSTOM KNIFES HERE!! First off knife #1 825.00 price tag the knife was not centered so he let me exchange for the same knife just different design which was somehow another 25.00 what ever annoyed but figured I would be doing lots of business with them. Knife#2 Got to my car drove home decided pass on this knife will get something different. I had my knife less then 24 hours never had the knife out of the pouch it came in!! They supposedly have a 3 day return policy... Yea right don't count on it. He pulled out a toothpick and said "See this scratch here?" Points to something on it I can barely see and says nope we can't return it its damaged. He told me we only sell perfect knives... Ok the first knife was not even centered correctly!! Well to say the least I was beyond mad. After arguing with him for about 30 min maybe longer he finally says well fine I will take it back but it's a 200.00 fee. He said we have to send it to South Africa to get the anodized titanium polished for the non existent scuff!!!Really?!!! Well today after trying to calm down I called him and said you know I just want to be treated fair can you send me a pic of the scratch and if I can see it I will leave it alone if not just give me like a 100.00 off each purchase over 500.00. He would not send the pic!! Says you cant tell from a phone pic!! This was by far thee worst buying experience I have ever had!! ! Honestly don't even care about the 200.00 dollars anymore just don't want anyone to go through this kinda B.S.!!!
P.S. Maybe I am wrong about South Africa maybe they are the only ones that can work on anodized titanium:/ .... But I don't think so.

I won't be reading much past this mess but, you bought it in person right? Why didn't you check the blade centering before you got home and had buyer's remorse and used that as a silly reason to touch and test drive another one? On knife two, why didn't you look it over, or actually decide if you liked it before driving home to "leave it in pouch" overnight and not even take it out?

You sound like a pretty unreasonable customer and expect people to work with you for an hour, or maybe hours only to take a knife home, presumably play with it, get buyer's remorse then come back and do it all again.

P.S. South Africa isn't the only person who can work on anodized titanium, but maybe some other reasonable customers don't want joe bob's lawn mower repair and titanium service fixing scratches on a custom knife from another indecisive, pain in the ass customer.

Do a little research before your next purchase, man up, and stop wasting people's time. You won't have to "go through this kinda B.S.!!!" if you slow down on your impulse purchasing and be positive that you want what you bring home from inspecting IN PERSON at a shop.

I could go on, but you will probably get whiny in a couple of pages and I don't intend to read any more of your non sense.
Best of luck.

By the way, check this out - http://www.edufind.com/english-grammar/plural-nouns/
IRREGULAR NOUNS
There are some irregular noun plurals. The most common ones are listed below.

Examples
Singular Plural
half halves
knife knives
wife wives
life lives

I am not obsessive about grammar but how do people on blade forums not know "KNIFES" is wrong? It is the most important one.

His preowned IPhone that was previously only left in the box ,but taken home by the first buyer has bad auto correct .

So ... The OP has posted the same basic info to Google reviews and a few other places. As you can imagine, for our retail store especially, reviews (and the number of stars especially) are extremely important. If some of you that have had good experiences working with us were willing to write a few reviews in the usual review places, that would help us a lot to get rid of the effect of the OP's irrational tirade. His negative review was put under Epicurean Edge (our retail store location) on google, so some positive reviews for both BladeGallery and Epicurean Edge would help us tons.

Thanks ahead of time.

I think you should also do the YELP etc response; leave the bad review and expand with a reply of how the transaction progressed.

Sounds like he's not coming back here for any sort of mea culpa so your hopes of a breakthrough to common sense are fading fast.

Yep. Some guys would rather just run away with a big ol cartoonish lump sticking out the top of their head than admit they were wrong. This thread backfired hard, and nothing stings as much as bruised pride.

Manning up is just something some are incapable of. I guess it's time for damage control all due to the irrationality of one bad customer.

I had the knife from the store to my car flipped it about 30 times and just didn't like it. Put it in the case that it came with and there it sat in my car for less the 24 hours. I emailed them the next morning and told them I didn't like it but still wanted to do business with them so I would do a in store credit. I swear on everything I did not scuff it I also did not check it over great when I bought it so I was willing to take the blame but when I ask for him to just take a pic of the knife so I can see the scratch he is talking about and he won't do it that is what really made me mad

Your story started with "never left the pouch" now it's "flipped maybe 30 times" .........

Evolution.

Anyway, I can imagine that you are starting to rub this guy the wrong way, returning two very expensive knives in a very short period of time.
Typically, if I have ever had issues with a custom, and it has happened exactly twice, I have dealt with the maker and both times the knife was fixed and everyone was happy.

I get the 3 day return policy, but I have a feeling that by knife #2 it was viewed as abuse of that policy....I certainly see it as that.

The customer isn't always right, and return policy's aren't there for test pilots.

I didn't ask anybody to take up arms to burn the dealer I just wanted to relate what happened. It was a good learning experience in the end. I couldn't see a scratch and he wanted to get paid so next time I am not gonna make a impulse buy like that. His return policy does say you have three days and that we understand if you don't like the feel you can bring it back. I tried to and then..."no look at this scuff" I can't even barely see it and looks just like a thumb smudge . Anyways I am off this post. Just wish I could meet one of you computer warriors face to face . I live in Tacoma Wa Caleb James Wilson is my Facebook get at me anytime
