Worst knife you've ever spent money on. How much was it?

Hollow handle "Rambo" knife. Clogged the apex cutting paper and snapped it in two trying to saw through a pine 2X4!
$9 at a pawn shop in Quebec.

The one with the compass in the screw on pommel? I had that one too. And actually it wasn't the worst for me, sure mine snapped after a while too, but it is connected to some nice memories of playing outdoors.:D

Bark river mini North Star. I think it was 130 or so. Gifted it away to a friend of a friend.

I'd have to go with the Boker Kwaiken 3.5" BladeHQ Exclusive. Thinking that Boker may have been a little tighter on the QC on this model because it was both an exclusive and the Kwaiken was super popular at the time, I thought I'd drop a little over a hundred on this knife. It came off center and the clip design is among the worst that I've personally experienced. A complete let down since I had high hopes and do actually like the design of the knife, but I sold it a couple of days later to fund better knives.

Two other Boker knives that I felt ripped off of was the Anti-MC and the Anti-Grav, pretty similar designs but one is a ceramic bladed folder (!!!) and the other the steel counterpart. Both costed around 65 and one came with a liner lock so sticky and late (pretty much was touching the presentation side scale) I had to use two hands to disengage the knife, the other one was wildly off centered. Once again, sold them as soon as possible with full disclosure.

Maybe I could have hit up their warranty department to see what's up with their poor quality control, but I honestly didn't want to bother when flaws this severe get through to the shelves... or when three out of three of their products I've tried are flawed. Completely sworn off the Boker brand since then, never owning another Boker in my life.

Good to know your experiences. I'll try and avoid some of their products from now on. I have almost been tempted to buy a Boker because of the designs, although I never actually have.

Was a 2-pack of Kershaw folders I bought because it was $10, though it was 3cr13 I thought it’s kershaw how bad could they be? So terrible I slipped them back in the package and returned them to Walmart (who sends them back to Kershaw)for a refund. The steel would not take an edge at all, the liner locks were dangerously thin and rounded.

I purchased a bunch of SOGs around ~2012. All just garbage. The blades had ridiculous play. The locks were horrible to manipulate. The assists were so limp they felt like euphemisms used in Viagra commerials; "Having trouble deploying? Disappointed with your performance?"

Not only was that the day that "value knives" essentially died for me, but it was also the day Nutnfancy's recommendation stopping meaning anything to me.

That being said, though, things have largely changed since then. There are some incredible value knives today that actually have good steel and excellent build quality. Steel Will, Bestech, Ontario. Boys are bringin' the HEAT!

This turd, it's the only fixed blade I have that fails spinewhacks. Edge retention is garbage too. I paid 5.00 from ali express, it said 3v steel.

Epic.

Worst knife I ever bought... a no name knife I bought in an army navy surplus store next to a karate studio when i was a kid, right after my black belt test.

It just so happens I will be at my mother's house tomorrow night. If I remember, I'll take a pic of it. I still have it. It had camouflage handles and a black blade. It was like crack for a 14 yr old with a little allowance money.

Oh! I know, I know, it's the "worst knife" and not "worst knives" but reading that Boker story reminded me of the Stingray I have in my drawer. Cool design, but horribly off center :/ again, design good execution meh at best.

HTM.....:poop::poop::poop::poop::poop:...etc.

Yeah I paid almost 300$ Canadian for this knife. It had one of those lockups where you push on the spine and the lockbar just creeps over until it falls off the tang and the blade snaps closed.

I managed to fix it by bending the lockbar all the way over until it almost touches the opposite scale. Still a major disappointment. HTM was a fiasco. Still it is an incredibly smooth knife. (IKBS with loose bearing is a pain in the tail)

I bought it cause the blade was sort of Emerson Commander-esque.

Hahaha! Dude, I was gonna bring up HTM!! I just didn't have any first hand experience. Oh man. I almost bought a Gunhammer too. They were soooo good looking! What a bummer. I'm glad you were about to recover it somewhat at least.

Way back in 2014 or so, I dropped an ungodly amount of money on a Will Moon custom. It wad already made, and he said he would change the anodization on it and ship it out in a week. Fast forward to 5 months of BS excuses from him later, and I finally get the knife... with terrible gritty action, blade play, horrible centering, really rough and dodgy finishing on the scales, and he didn’t even do the anodization that he kept saying was already done. $1300 for a garbage knife from a garbage maker.

Kizer now makes an excellent version of the Gunhammer.

Comeuppance Comeuppance

Funny how they always look so good in the pictures. Some of these knife makers may be better photographers than they are knife builders.

Truth is the majority of custom knives I have seen have not been up to the build quality of a CRK.

A couple from over well over 20 years ago come to mind. The CRKT - K.I.S.S. was a bad design that would close when pressure was applied to the handle. Still have the scar to prove it. The Greber Paraframe is definitely the biggest piece of junk I ever owned - blade play in every direction, faulty lock, cheap materials.

That's painful to read.

I bought a CRKT M16-14ZSF when I was in the Army.

Biggest piece of crap knife I’ve ever owned. Blade had a big crack in it straight out of the box. The LAWKS Lock on the top had to be forcibly actuated to close it.

I sent it back for warranty and they told me that the blade crack was “cosmetic and didn’t affect the integrity of the blade”.

Blade broke cutting a cardboard box first week I had it back. Returned it again to CRKT and they said they didn’t cover abuse and I would have to pay to get it replaced. Really?

I threw it in the trash and it’ll be a cold day in hell before I buy a CRKT again.

I used to own over a hundred flea market specials, many gifts and many purchased myself.
They were mostly just novelties so I won't really consider those knives, not that I could remember one specific worst anyways.

I'm going to have to say the worst real knife I ever spent money on was a Kershaw select fire,
It was on sale at Walmart for $10 and I knew the Kershaw name.
The ergonomics were the worst, the pivot wouldn't stay tight, and the blade and clip both developed rust pepper spots in no time just sitting on my dresser.

About a year and a half ago I found it and gave it to my cousin, after getting some thread locker on the pivot screw.
He needed a better knife than his POS Kershaw cryo, and this thing was just barely better.
