Worst knife you've ever spent money on. How much was it?

Damn that sucks man. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. The hype was insane for those knives for a while. Hard not to get caught up in it. Then I just remember people opening the knife like three times and developing dramatic lockrock and all kinds of terrible problems. Some of the horror stories, like yours, had me straight up hyperventilating lol
Exactly! Wish I knew what blade forums were before I bought them, might have helped. Sure enough, my madd maxx developed lock rock. The gun hammer looked freaking cool and "sounded good"! Back then the marketing grabbed me, sad to say. Never again! After that I researched the H#LL out of every knife purchase!

I'd have bought it back in the days!

I would too, i see nothing wrong with the CRKT K.I.S.S ( if it was the warncliffe ) for opening mail...ect.
I've got an old Gerber Ridge which is like a reverse tanto version of this and I actually like the concept.
I really wouldn't mind having a warncliffe K.I.S.S for a light duty little forget it's there utility type blade, being an actual knife I'd prefer it to a jiffy cutter / tap knife...ect

I am pretty sure you missed the point. "I would have bought it back in the day"...."when I didn't know better." I believe was the implication.

But if you like that thing, as they say, YMMV.

You're both right!

Tom Mayo TNT circa 2000, paid $600, iirc.

The frame lock didn't work/hold the blade open. You could easily close the blade on your leg. The dealer where I bought it said it should break in so I wasn't worried. Months later I was going to Blade as was Mr. Mayo so I took it with me. When I got to his table and showed him the knife and said if it needed shop work he could have it and I would leave my address. He just looked at me, took the knife, used his finger to insert between the scales and used his thumb to bend the lock bar into a curve, then handed it back. I opened the knife and still closed it without disengaging the lock bar with barely any effort. He just shook his head and said 'it will break in'. I told him it hadn't yet over thousands of opens and his bending. He told me he wouldn't take it back as it would 'break in'. So I had a knife with a useless frame lock that was now bent. It was dull out of the pouch too.

Buck Mini Iceman. Complete piece of Chinese crap and I love my USA Buck knives.

Stripped pivot out of the box and the frame lock no longer holds the blade closed. Terrible, terrible knife that I barely even used.

I am going just throw it out as I couldn’t bother sending it back to Buck as it was $12 or so. And I would throw out the replacement if they sent me one, so there you go.

Did I mention that I really hate this knife? ;)

I wasn't going to leap in to this but the worst knife that I bought was a Spyderco in S110V. I'm not in to leaf blades. Love the steel. Abt the only thing it would be good for is opening boxes. I kept it. It's still in the box. Maybe I'll donate it to the kitchen for opening boxes.

Worst value for money was a Terzuola Midtech ATCF EDC. Aaprently finished by the man himself it was a piece of absolute trash. Looked like it was finished by a five year old, scales were ground terribly and didn't match the liners, wouldn't flip, blade rubbed the liner, liners and hardware were rusted on arrival. I wouldn't have been happy with it if it was 50$.

I've had two of them and both were bad.

I contacted Bob and just got fobbed off. Too busy apparently. Just got told to suck it up. Same thing happened when I contacted him about one of his customs. Which had problems.

Bobby T is a legend and used to make great stuff . But at this point I think he doesn't care about anything but profiteering off his name.

Any of the multiple CRKT 30ish dollar knives I've bought over the years with Aus 4 or 6 steel and the hardness of tinfoil. The Drifter, and another new one are the exceptions, they have better cheap steel.

Which knife is it? I just had shoulder surgery the other day and being stuck at home has rekindled my childhood interest in knives (this is actually my first post here, lol). I just purchased my first "real" knife (a Kershaw Blur with S30V steel) and my fiance has a Kershaw Leek Carbon Fiber heading my way for my birthday... I'd love to add a Spyderco to my modest "collection" (specifically a Manix, Delica, or Paramilitary 2). If you decide you want to part with it, I might be interested depending on your price and the model. :)

*Edit

Just read the rules... Looks like I did a no no by trying to buy a knife without a paid membership. If I understand it correctly, I only need the $10 basic membership to purchase a knife from someone, but I need the $30 premium membership if I want to sell something. Is that right?

ADV mini Butcher. Seriously. I was really into wharncliffes at the time and dropped $450 on one. The framelock was useless. It would close under the slightest pressure. I'm not talking spine whacks, but light pressure from my thumb. I sent it back immediately. Right or wrong, I have not trusted framelocks or ADV knives since.

Dang! You definitely had a rough draw with that! I can definitely respect your decision to avoid framelocks given this disastrous experience you had, although, if you're looking to have that confidence restored, it I'd recommend checking out a Sebenza or Inkosi from CRK.

Of all my framelocks, my confidence factor is the highest regarding the framelock on my small Sebenza fwiw. Clearly though, ymmv!

I have heard nothing but great thing about CRKs, and I certainly need to check one out some time!

The box says Military, S110V, Dark Blue(Blurple), G10. I'll probably keep it to remind me not to buy any more of them.

Ah, the military. Yea, the blade is a little large for my baby hands anyways, lol.

To stay on topic... I haven't purchased enough knives to come across a bad one yet! I need to work on that.
