Worst YT reviewer/knife channel ?

The last person I've had to unsubscribe from was xacto.

He can't go 30 seconds without clearly going out of his way to make an awkward non fitting sexual comment about him or his wife.
It was funny at first in a grade 9 sense of humour. But now after countless videos its gotten way out of hand.

I'm pretty sure he has a case of little man syndrome.

jeff, you're begging for someone to just say youtube is your life.

you're the real version of the truman show except you do the recording yourself, willingly.

maybe you don't realize that but it's pretty clear.

most people don't care about your dental procedures no offense.

it's a cutlery channel....or is it?

what is it again?

i believe you are a nice guy but you act like you could just walk away from something that gives you just as much joy as it does your fans.

youtube is your life and this thread unintentionally has insulted your life. i'm sorry for that.

sometimes the truth hurts.

im going to just stop you right here. i believe someone earlier your a pot stirrer? i don't know you or what your rep is around here but im going to just ask nicely to stop laying into jeff. if he wants to make a video about something he ran over or whatever thats his perrogitive. where you come in is if you choose or not to watch it. this thread is a bashfest and by no means on topic. i find no one to be a bad reviewer. i myself make reviews on knives (look for yourself.) im evaluating a zt 0200 atm the moment and i plan to make a video on it at my leisure. i have people all the time tell me in pm's my videos suck. i keep making them because i get views on them. which means theres an audience somewhere gaining information on what im discussing. though all the umm's and but's and stalling, through the off topic stuff. they gain info and as long as they leave with knowledge of any kind pertaining to the knife ive done my job. id like to add jeff is a personal friend of mine and has helped my channel out.

Just happy there is this thing called the internet that is here now but wasn't when I was born. Now we can talk about knives and stuff and even watch other people show knives and describe what they like and don't like about them. We're very lucky. That is all.

This is the one of most incoherent, ignorant, and downright hateful threads I have ever seen outside of whine and cheese. How this is still not locked is baffling. All I see in this thread are grown ass men gossiping about what other grown ass men do on youtube channels. The guy that posted the player haters ball was in the right direction. This is actually quite embarrassing. No good was ever, ever, ever going to come out of a thread like this.Four-shore you have the heart of a broad, no adult male worth his salt would be as much of a hater and vindictive weasel toward someone he never met.A bunch of women in this thread.

Haha! Priceless. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349777251.587579.jpg
Look at this puppy!

Yep, I've derailed this entire thread.

Everyone just calm down. Four shore didn't do anything wrong. Call it stirring the pot or w/e he expressed his opinion and so did others. Take what you want and trash the rest. I am subscribed to many of these youtubers, even one's I don't like because they're very entertaining as this thread is. These youtubers don't need your help defending them and if anything their views have only increased as a result of this thread. They put the time, effort, and funds to put out these videos which I could never nor want to do and they wouldn't do it if everyone hated them!

My only sort of gripe is with tuffthumbz. Not him solely, but a few talented DIY modifiers that I have found on this forum and online. I'm not sure if you guys only respond to dudes who sent in a dozen knives, thousand dollar customs, or bigtime youtubers that can get you publicity, but I've been trying to get a pimp job done for a while now. I have never had any response to multiple emails sent through various mediums, including this forum. I know you guys are probably super busy, but would at least appreciate a "can't take any orders on right now" or something. That's just basic customer service. I don't know if this is an isolated incident or not, but thought I'd put it out there.

And one more thing, Nutnfancy, don't ask for donations to "the project." If someone can sell a $130 used knife on ebay and get $200 for it just by engraving their name into the blade then they are BAWLIN. Haha, same thing with Jenna Marbles. Not even a knife reviewer but is the biggest youtuber to date and tries to pretend shes some broke grad student, who go go dances on the side even though her networth is estimated to be upwards of a half a mill. End useless tangent rant...please feel free to blow me up. Long day at work today!

jeff and i worked out our differences.

thanks

Interesting thread, to say the very least.

My least favorite knife-related personality is--

Randoms. YouTube users you only see once or twice. They have other videos, most are crap. The absolute worst part?

They sometimes do an excellent job actually reviewing the knife, citing real life situations they had gone through with the knife in detail [that I believe are accurate, given that I own a few knives I've seen reviewed by such people]. THESE videos, I'd like to see more like them. On the other side we have awful, terrible videos that have little to do with the actual knife, and more of the idea that it could be something 'awesome' when it actually isn't all that wonderful.

As for two famous names in the YT knife review community [is it really wrong to call it that?] that I actually pay attention to... I don't really have a particular dislike for the personalities themselves, but for some of their habits that manifest on camera.

Nutnfancy-- his approach to a knife review [or any of his reviews, for the most part] comes across similar to the enthusiasm in a ColdSteel advertizement. This can actually be a good thing, in that his energy usually makes me interested in the knife. What he says about the knives seems reliable thus far, and as he says, they are mainly his opinions. However, he seems to have most of his facts straight, based again on his own experience. The point where I get a little frustrated is when a knife review stretches over 5 or 10 minutes. After that point, it often seems as if he is talking with less content in his words. That is, the review is needlessly dragged on when it could have been ended sooner. This is subverted when he actually talks about comparisons or whatnot, something that adds to the review.

But for the most part, it's dragging the video out; some of his 5 minute reviews are very informative.

Cutlerylover-- I really don't have many criticisms for Jeff other than the run-on sentence, freestyle approach to his reviews. While it does certainly provide a lot of his personality, he tends to go off on a tangent; albeit he always returns to the focal point of his review. I'm sure this isn't a unique observation, and could be fixed easily with some sort of rough plan of how to speak about his review subject.

Overall, I really like seeing knives I don't yet own and cannot see in person, on YouTube. That doesn't mean I take whatever I see or hear as fact, but as a reference I can recall later. It's a way to pass time on the computer, and I actually wouldn't have even joined BF if it weren't for a reviewer mentioning 'the forums' in passing.

So, maybe I'm a little biased.

Do you watch his vids by chance? He says pretty often that emails/PMs are about the worst way to get up with him. He just asks people to call him directly, and his number is listed on his site. He's pretty good about answering. :)

Trying to reply to all the PM's/emails just gets to be too much, especially when you work. Just to put it into perspective, I opened up an email acct just for YouTube back in October. Since then the ONLY emails that have come to this address have been emails from YT, which means since Oct I have received 25,303 emails from YT alone. Each of those 25k is notifications of subscriptions, comments, or PMs. Considering that I only have about 5k subs, that means about 20000 of those emails were messages and/or comments. That's 55 comments or messages to respond to each day, it's just too much - and that doesn't count forum and personal email.

I know I have offended a lot of people by not getting back to them as well, but it's just not possible unless YT was my full time job. That's one of the big problems with YT in my opinion. It's a catch 22. People appreciate you when you're small because you can give them personal interaction. Yet, the more popular you become the less and less you can do that, therefore people see you as arrogant. Their PM/comment system is clunky.

No more warnings for insults in this thread. There will be infractions from here on out. If you can't keep it civil, don't post.

I am failing to see all the outrage that so many are seeming to feel here. Is the ego so fragile that it can take absolutely no dissent? The choice to make a PUBLIC video detailing your opinion on a subject opens the door for all sort of praise or critique. If you don't want to hear any feedback then why not make the video private? If the skin is so thin that it can't take an anonymous person saying "you suck" you should just quit the internet.

I'm new to the knife community but will say this, its because of people like Nutnfancy, cutlerylover, Xuixui1313, Jadavis, Tuffthumz and others that got me into collecting knives and using them. Do you have to agree with everything they say? No, but the community is still better because of it and I'm sure countless other will agree.

I did stand up for these guys when I called the thread out on the 2nd or third page by saying this thread sucked (and got a bunch of flack and a warning from a mod for it). And guess what? This thread still sucks. All it has done is piss every one off under some guise of objectivity and you feeling slighted because of some "hypocrisy" - those objectives have failed multiple times now. Trust me, I know a piece of garbage when I smell it. I know when it's time to take out the trash. The way I see it this thread is a huge black mark on the otherwise cool knife review and testing subforum.

To move on to the next extremely childish point - comparing bashing youtube channels to a review of a knife.

First of all, it's worth mentioning that typically a knife review involves constructive criticism (if it's a good review at least). Very little of the criticism here has been constructive. It's one thing to disagree with someone and the content of their videos, but to create a thread about the "worst youtube reviewers" is not inviting constructive criticism. It's inviting bashing - which is exactly what happened for the first few pages.

But the real distinction lies in the fact that PEOPLE are not the same as INANIMATE OBJECTS.

At the end of the day we are talking about people here. For example - Someone doesn't like Jdavis's channel? Take a hike, don't watch the videos - because John IS that channel. Sure we can backpedal and say "oh, I'm just objectively critiquing his channel, I like John, just not his channel," but by making blanket statements about what are the worst channels or channels you don't like is ripping on that channel. In turn that is ultimately ripping on the person behind the channel. (Feel free to say once again how you like John but not his channel. Whatever man, we've heard it all before - it's not working. Just do us all a big favor and delete this thread.)

Ultimately you are ripping on people.

Now ripping on people in forums is nothing new (hence this thread still being in existence - this kind of stuff is unfortunately par for the course), but YouTube happens to be the kind of place where you can actually make real connections with people. Case in point, I'm going to a knife show tomorrow and meeting a friend from YouTube. We have exchanged emails, traded knives, talked about our mutual experiences and have chatted on Skype. So we take this seriously. The people you rip on in this thread matter. YouTube is a community and a brotherhood, and it's based on respect - something that is sorely lacking in this particular thread. Your continued pushing of some whack agenda shows an incredible amount of disrespect to all of us, and it's not appreciated.

I like John, and I like TuffThumbz (Geoff), and I like Smokeater (Robbie) and, I like everyone else. So to hear people rip on them offends me. If people rip on my friends, frankly I get extremely pissed off - not just on the computer, in real life too. Hence my somewhat heated initial post. "Sorry" if it came off as a little bit of a personal attack and a violation of the rules of this forum (I'm not sorry), but if someone is talking trash about my friends or family I'll take their head off - and I won't freaking apologize for it.

Blood is thicker than water. Loyalty is something that means a lot to me. I support the people that support me, and a slap on the face to them is the same as a slap one the face to me. Frankly if it means getting banned so be it.

great post.

Four_shore what is your youtube name....shouldnt you make a video response to the youtube community in that way.....im sureyou be the most disliked channel of all-time. just say'n..........but would make for some good viewing pleasure.

I think Nutnfancy is my least favorite by far. Watching him struggle to operate a bolt action rifle properly (Ruger Scout) for 1/2 hour drove me crazy. Then he faults the gun rather then his technique.
I also laugh whenever he pats himslef on the back which is about every thirty seconds.

Well this was a bad idea. I would have posted my opinions on reviewers and opened it up for others to share their thoughts on theirs best and worst. Not a thread on whos the worst and best. Just my opinion.
