Worst YT reviewer/knife channel ?

I lurk in knife threads and videos. I am not an active member of either community, but I do like to watch and read various opinions. Flame me if you want, but I think the person who posted this thread is kind of ridiculous.

Youtube is as much a community as is an internet forum. Sure, some of these people take themselves way, way too seriously, but they are essentially doing the same thing that forum members do every day: share their opinions and stories. To criticize a youtube user for their videos is exactly the same thing as criticizing a forum member for their posts. Youtube is not television. These people are not television hosts. Youtube is like a forum where the posts are videos.

Does four_shore make a list of most horrible posters on this forum? I guess that is a subjective statement, but it's essentially the same type of thing he did.

You sir are correct. But don't tell F_S that I said so... (he gets a bit defensive when criticized)

Anywho...

if that statement is true, what makes your post acceptable and my thread unacceptable?

the fact that people were offended by it? or is it because you prefer YT over BF's?

again, the forums and YT are two totally different worlds.

it's apples and oranges.

this is your first post here?

i'm just glad it wasn't pointless.

On subject.

As a non collector, but potentiol use point of view

Im undecicive as to whether coldsteel are showvanistic or actually portraying their products.

I think they dont show a knife as a knife, but try to show its not as weak as others companys breaking point, which could mean nothing, cutting stuff in half is nothing but sharpness and cutting angle any steel or knife can be sharp enough for that ifits also long snd thing or thick enough.

I think more vids need to relate to a steels ease of sharpning or methods of sharpening rather than just being subjected to specific abuse, or personal opinion of the same material put together by a different manufacturer.

Theres just a lack of science and real blade use, and too much dedication to product selling and I like this.

I want to see skinners skinning and carvers carving.

I want 2 hour long videos of knife being used for its intended purpose, and how often the knife needs sharpening/ re profiling during, and I want the video to show unedditted the method of sharpening.
I want to see how well the blades last out in real use.

But at the same time I like looking at the knives in proportion to hands and in proportion to what its being used on, so in reality, I could watch them all, but walk away with like 5% of any videos information actually being informative to me.
Opinions are good sometimes too, only true hobbyists can offer an opinion, a rooky cant. Same as any hobby in the world.

So all in all theyre all fine and they all have information to take away, even if at the time you didnt notice it.

Maybe a collectors point of view too about the general vids on the youtube can be offered too by someone.

I won't quickly criticise others who make review videos. It is a nice hobby.

The one kind of review style that I really can't stomach is that with an overly (and usually naive) obsession with tactical use.

When I look critically at my own humble output, it is unfortunate that I don't have enough time to take the production quality to the next level, like Stefan does. I do get some negative comments (usually about my non-English accent), and they come with the territory.

The truth be told, I really like your videos. They are very clear, concise , not a lot of flicking, and mumbo jumbo. :p
Good work! don't feel discouraged.

I like your reviews, too. Most foreign reviewers don't seem to be as enthusiastic about "tactical" stuff, for some reason. I like that.

Some are too long, some are too short. What is a review? To some it is a small description of any topic. To others it may be a forty minute show and tell with comparisons to similar topics. IMHO it is all summed up below:

Roadside imports guy. There's some other dude, who calls himself Hellzz Army or something like that, who also really grinds my gears. Just something about his attitude and the way he talks.

This was an entertaining read for sure, so it's hard to fault the OP. I mean... we get online (socially at least), just to kill a little time, or to be entertained. And YT in general is great for that. This thread has been good also. It made me go look at YT'ers I hadn't heard of, re-visit a couple I haven't seen in a while, etc... As a time-killer YT is exemplary.

On the flip side, it can be very helpful on a variety of fronts. Even if I don't like what the person is saying, sometimes just seeing and hearing a knife being handled is all that I need. That said, even bad posters have their place, and serve a purpose. Remember, it's ALL entertainment... even if it sucks.

That being said, JDavis has really been a help to me in learning about many different aspects of knife components and use/care. Is he for everybody? Of course not. Who is? But I was very surprised to see his name even brought up here. His videos have been consistently informative, and very appreciated. He was the only guy who put the use of a Sharpmaker, and specific techniques for it, in a viable and useable format. For ME at least.

And I think that is the underlying sentiment we all need to remember: Not everybody is for everybody, and we have such different tastes and priorities as knife enthusiasts, that variety is YT's saving grace.

I have to hop on the nutnfancy bandwagon, just because his videos are so boring it's imposible to get through one. I never feel like I've learned anything afterwards either. That big, big dude who cuts water bottles is probably my favorite/most educational haha.

I'm so so on Nutnfancy, most vids are far too long and I like to see more testing and less "reviewing" but as far as X4cto goes, the first 1:30...enuf said

dear lord...

Gods that's horrid. I couldn't even make it to 1:30.

And this makes me wonder about those folks who say one shouldn't be critical of youtube reviewers.
