Would you really survive?

So trolling then.

You have made a few assumptions;

1. I am overweight

2. I own the truck in my avatar.
I never said you were over weight...I dont even know you. And I apolagize for the truck comment...but you threw the first punch. I just threw a topic out for discussion

The dude tells me I'm bragging and calls me a troll. I really dont want to get sent to band camp...so i'm outa here. I knew people would come up with excuses, I didnt think they would call me names. I forgot to mention that I spend a lot of time on a bodybuilding site..where people actually care about they're health. I'm sorry for thinking that "survival minded" people might need a little wake up call.

LOL are your feelings hurt?

I don't think i'm gonna survive cause i'm waiting for a BK2 to arrive tommorow!! uggghhh... the agony.

I'm kinda bored so I thought I would make a few enemies today :) I mentioned it once in passing but now I'm gonna toss it in your face. So a lot of you guys out there have all these cool knives and top of the line survival gear but looking at your pics it seems like 90% of you are carrying about 50-100 lbs of fat on your bodies. So if you were in a situation that you really needed to move quickly or move for any length of time that extra body weight your carry would severly hamper your efforts. And you can do something about it...i did.
You would be surprised how the pounds melt off if you clean up your eating habits and watch the timing of meals and get in a good brisk thirty minute (or more) walk everyday. I just lost 50lbs doing this and it is amazing how much better i feel when out on the trail. not to mention all the added health benifits that go along with it. Okay lets hear all the excuses................

These statements all seem very trollish....

Seems also that you knew going into this thread that you would make some enemies, so you can't be that surprised.

honestly, I think my problem is not with the fat, but with the smoking. Im not really overweight, but years of cigarettes have killed my breathing stamina.

I forgot to mention that I spend a lot of time on a bodybuilding site

Uh. Good for you. I know a lot of fat people who spend a lot of time on body building sites, pretending that they have muscles. Now, if you'd said that you spent a bunch of time body-building, then maybe we'd be getting somewhere. I am not sure I see the point of this thread. I'm very fit (swimmer and martial artist, and I train with a high altitude Olympic weight trainer), and I have barely enough fat to stay afloat. But I make no bones about my ability to survive in the wilderness like most of these guys. Your bodybuilders would likely freeze to death or starve because they wouldn't have the skills to make a shelter, fire, or obtain food. Fitness and wilderness survival are two very different things. And as for being a troll and thinking that you can issue wakeup calls, lets just say that anyone can make any claims. I could claim, for instance, that I rep at twice my body weight on bench press. But the internet being the internet, that means nothing. You say you lost 50 pounds walking. Does that make you fit? 50 pounds means a lot less if you're 500 pounds and can't see your toes.

However, there is always Rule #1...

There's also: "Pics or it didn't happen."

Let's get an action shot of you showing off your muscular body while you build a shelter using nothing but your trusty Becker. Then we'll be getting somewhere.

yea i guess, I didnt mean this to go the way it did.

Bro, don't let it get your feelings hurt. There are plenty of better ways to start a thread like this. In my opinion the thread started down hill when you pressed the submit new thread button.

I like the original post. It got my thinking....about that webcam website where you're supposed to meet interesting people and have interesting conversations but instead it's just guys jerking off and wanting you to jerk off with them. Yeah....that's what I thought about. Suffice to say, I'm in good shape. You boys have er...fun.

At 5 foot 11 and 185 pounds, been fit all my life from swimming, walking, bike riding, weight lifting, I'd say I'm fine!

I forgot to mention that I spend a lot of time on a bodybuilding site..where people actually care about they're health. I'm sorry for thinking that "survival minded" people might need a little wake up call.
First, if you want to be healthy don't use bodybuilding. They do some of the most unhealthy things you can do to a body. Eat nothing but buckets of chicken, starve themselves, dehydrate themselves etc. all to "look good."

Second, you'd get a better response if you weren't being a dick about it.

I just completed a round of P90X and lost 17lbs,..put on a few of muscle. Still another 10-15lbs to be at my ideal weight.

But it is pretty interesting to pick up and carry a 30lb weight or pack and realize you are carrying this extra every day when you aren't intentional about conditioning. I am as guilty as the rest when I don't work out out in the gym and with purpose in the kitchen.

It's also pretty motivating to think about replacing 30lb of spare tire and instead carrying 30lb extra pounds of additional gear and sharp pointy things on the trails.

I thought I was "fit" for the last 14 years. Went swimming in the ocean last spring and realized I was wrong! The only thing I know for sure is that I feel better the day after a good workout and I'm definitely in a better mood.

I don't care. I'm a fat, old man on horseback - but I've repeatedly survived, no, THRIVED in the wild and wooly West (Arizona) on my own, living off the land, for weeks at a time. Knowledge and experience, a good horse, and the fine products of Mr. Colt and Mr. Winchester, thank you (now retired to Mosby Country in Virginia)....So as the Duke would say:

"Well, come see a fat old man sometime!"

Still, it's good general advice and y'all shouldn't be so teechie...
