Very much...if the grinds are kept simple, we might have what the WSK always should have been.
 
When you say low, do you mean low angle or the bevels not coming up very high on the blade? As wide as the blade is, it'll have plenty of mass even if you had wide primary grinds. What stock thickness did you use? I'm just curious and not seeking to influence---this is your baby and I'll be interested to see what you come up with. :)
 
Its all our baby:). I was thinking the grinds would not go all the way up the blade.
I would leave the top 2/3 or so as the flats. The stock is 3/16.
 
Let me throw in a vote, then, for half-way up the blade, with a promise not to throw a tantrum if I'm overridden. :D
 
We are heat treating a large amount of steel this week. We'll get this treated and ground out soon.
 
I think it's going to be great! Transition of grinds with no hook will pretty much eliminate the main weakness of the old design. :thumbup::thumbup:
 
We could hold a bunch of ink blots in front of it and ask it what it sees... :)

I'm going to be in meetings all day today, probably until very late, so I'll check in then...the knife will be finished, fully HT'd, hand polished, hand engraved with swirls of maple leaves, and sharpened by then, right? :D
 
Oh yeah! No problem! Right after I finish leaping over a few buildings in a single bound! Lol
 
How does the back effect batoning? I am thinking that a nice straight back would be better for batoning.
 
My personal opinion is some times we make knives a bit to complicated. I am not knocking the modern designs. But sometimes less is more. I do appreciate the work and skill that is displayed in the more complicated designs.
