"Yeller" Handles

My favOrite yeller knife is this Case YO200.
Yellow bone w/raised shield on a copperhead trapper frame.
This one is promo for Cofer Bros. in Tucker GA but there are
some plain ones out there somewhere.

I know some of us have had some new yeller handled knives come in lately (this year). Here are a couple of newer ones I've received.

Just got my Case Copperlock yeller CV. Funny how things show up when you're not looking for them anymore.
I wanted one of these SOOO bad, but bidding on these on that auction site was unbearable when they would show up. Well, I saw this mint one with only a day left and not much action, so I figured what the heck. . . and now it's mine, at a realistic final price.
I can't wait to use it till it gets some color like this Imperial Boy Scout antique mall find that I bought years ago for a buck. It spoke out at me and seemed to "have a story to tell". I sharpened it when I got home since it was so dull, and it just jumped back to life. I started appreciating traditionals more and more since then.
Funny how I once owned custom titanium Terzuolas, Carsons, Crawfords, etc 15 years ago, and today I find myself here.

Any input on how to get the patina started? I hear coffee, Dr. Pepper, green apples. I have a handmade 6" bowie ground from a high carbon Hubertus slab with a Gorgeous stag handle that's just BEGGING for a patina. I don't it use enough to get that look anytime soon (folders are more usefull), so what should I do? Someone recommended leaving it overnight in melon.
Not to get off topic, but patinaed(?) blades and yellow handles seem to go hand in hand by the looks of the pics in this thread.

Take the patina discussion to the Maintenance/Embellishment Forum (or offline) please. There are more than enough threads on this topic already both here and elsewhere. "Search" will help. Thank you.

Some of my yellers that see a lot of pocket time -- Buck 309 Comfortcraft; three-eye Eye Brand congress - mid-late '50s; George Wostenholm circa 1910 (give it another 100 years and I'm sure it'll be fully yeller); and a Miller Bros congress pen circa 1920.

I experianced the attraction to them friday when I went into a local sporting goods store and saw a yeller trapper. I asked to see it and i did the usual thing i do when i see a case for sell-look at the tang stamp so i looked and... CV! I dont find many in cv where i live so i said "let me look around and think for a bit" I walked around for about 15 seconds and came back and bought it lol i do that almost every where i see a case full of knives

Moore Maker Small Trapper that I bought last year.
A sweet little knife that's quickly become one of my favorites although it does seem to want to close up on ya when in use.
I should see about getting them to take a look at it, but never seem to get around to it.

Yellow handled fishing knives and slim line trappers cut up many a dude in Texas honky tonks back in the old days.

Case is still making the yellow handle knivers. I picked this Sodbuster up recently, NIB, for $12

There have been a few additions to my yella collection. I have a few more, but here are most of them.

Nice Cheetah, Ed! I've been seriously considering picking up one of those and the new yella CV hawkbill. Might have to take a drive over to the drug store this afternoon!
Cheers!
