Just got my Case Copperlock yeller CV. Funny how things show up when you're not looking for them anymore.
I wanted one of these SOOO bad, but bidding on these on that auction site was unbearable when they would show up. Well, I saw this mint one with only a day left and not much action, so I figured what the heck. . . and now it's mine, at a realistic final price.
I can't wait to use it till it gets some color like this Imperial Boy Scout antique mall find that I bought years ago for a buck. It spoke out at me and seemed to "have a story to tell". I sharpened it when I got home since it was so dull, and it just jumped back to life. I started appreciating traditionals more and more since then.
Funny how I once owned custom titanium Terzuolas, Carsons, Crawfords, etc 15 years ago, and today I find myself here.
Any input on how to get the patina started? I hear coffee, Dr. Pepper, green apples. I have a handmade 6" bowie ground from a high carbon Hubertus slab with a Gorgeous stag handle that's just BEGGING for a patina. I don't it use enough to get that look anytime soon (folders are more usefull), so what should I do? Someone recommended leaving it overnight in melon.
Not to get off topic, but patinaed(?) blades and yellow handles seem to go hand in hand by the looks of the pics in this thread.
