"Yeller" Handles

IIRC, there is a small knife maker called Bluegrass ____ in Kentucky. And these were some pretty good quality knives they made few years back....
Maybe Bluegrass depot? I'll have to scrounge around for more info - it's been a few years.

There is Blue Grass Cutlery, they "make" the Winchester and Primble knives.
But Queen has made knives for them and also lists Winchester and Primble seperately.
Parker had the Family Tree series that included Standard, Platts, Crandall and Kinfolks.

I've always had a hard time keeping up with who made what. :o

Tell me you don't have that in your pocket right now, pulling it out every chance you get to look it over.;) I know, I know, I've been doing the same thing.LOL

It is strangely addictive. Feels like a polished stone you just can't stop rolling around in your hand. And yep, it's been in the pocket all day except for when I was fine tuning the edges a little.

This one has skint many a coon and made steers out of many a bull calf, as well as a lot of other sundry tasks.

An old Schrade.

Oh my Coonskinner, that knife is a fine old classic. What a sweet shadow Stockman pattern you've got their.

Standard knife co. Wow, that's a looker. Is that a Queen made?

Yup, Queen produced this knife with the Standard Knife Company stamp.

Great looking knife too. Always meant to grab one of these up for myself..

.. The unique shield on that fine Yellow bone always reminded me of William Shatners mustard colored uniform shirt with the Starship Enterprise insignia that his Captain Kirk character wore in the old Star Trek series. :D

I can see I have a lot of catching up to do.

Here are some of my meager collection of yeller pieces.

And here's a nice pose of a large and small Case XX Sod Buster in CV.

I'll have to get some shots of the CV Stockman, Trapper, and Barehead to go with them.

Thanks, Sunny. It is my all time favorite EDC knife, for a variety of reasons. That old Schrade carbon steel takes a screaming sharp edge, and the contours of the knife are perfect in your pocket or your hand.

That old knife is like a touchstone. I can hold it in my hand and smell the smoke of Oklahoma branding fires and corral dust...

And hear the mournful tones of sweet voiced Bluetick cooners long since gone to the happy hunting grounds.

I bought that knife when I was a kid with no worries and cares, with the world ahead of me. :)

I'd hate like the dickens to lose it, but I still carry it sometimes.

The knife that made me fall in love with knives was a "yeller"...

Maybe that's why I have so many of that color.

Here are a few more. Schrade, Camillus, one each Case, Northfield, Schlieper. One or two of the Schrades may be 1985 Camillus made.

Incidentally, the term "shadow Stockman" is one I am not familiar with.

Can you give me some information on it?

Yep, like Navihawk said, "no bolsters". Any slipjoint pocket knife pattern that is bolster-less is a "shadow".

BTW Coonskinner, I like your "touchstone" quote in your post a few back. Its incredible how an old knife is like that. You hold her in your hand and it just takes you back to a happy place in ones mind and to motor back down memories lane. :D
