"Yeller" Handles

A Near Year and more Yeller handled knives. Indeed. :)

This vintage Schrade, Walden, N.Y. U.S.A. gifted to me most recently by a good Pal here. The blades on this knife possess a near perfect light blue-grey patina with just a few spots and sharpened up well with just about 7-8 swipes stropping her blades on either side with dry leather. This knife reminds me of why I just love Schrade's good old hi-carbon steel so much..

Thanks for this one Steve. She'll make a mighty fine all around user.

I had one of those that I used for a giveaway some time back. I wonder if its the same one ? If it is, thats really cool. They are great knives

Started off with a Peanut and a Slimline Barehead Trapper and I'm waiting for a Sodbuster Jr. and a Trapper. All in Chrome Vanadium of course.

A couple more of my yeller boys...

Case CV Mini Trapper:

Case Shadow Stockman, also in CV. I was just given this one by a friend so it has no patina yet. I am carrying it today, though, so it won't be long.

No worries, I know you will enjoy her...

Those Schrade trappers have some real belly in the handles like no others.True works of art.

I've never been a big fan of full size trappers, always liked the mini's though.

The nice thing about the Schrades IMHO is that they fall right in between the full size and mini trapper Case knives

I like them so much, I just picked up another early Schrade Walden 293.
This one isn't yeller though. Haven't really seen many yeller 293's up for grabs lately

I cannot put this Yeller one down.

Anthony, I got it off the usual auction site. It wasn't listed in the correct category so it didn't get much attention :D
It has the typical old Schrade jigged Delrin scales. Darker colored, but towards the ends they fade to a little lighter color. Got the early Schrade Walden tang stamp. It looks like it spent most of its life sitting in a drawer.

Luckily, it is coming from about 150 miles from where I live, so hopefully I will have her Saturday. Will definitely get some pics of her when she arrives.

Got an early Yeller Schrade Walden 881Y comin too. I was doin really good about buyin knives, but it appears I've fallin off the wagon again.
I just happened to find the 881Y right after it was listed, and it had a really cheap buy it now. Other than a couple fine scratches on the blades, she appears to be in terrific condition. It even comes with an old Imperial jack knife with yeller scales :D 2 fer 1

Glad to hear you like the old trapper. They really are a terrific knife.
She still has a lot of good years left in her

The Schrade 293 is the knife I have carried most. My Dad gave me one when I was six years old, and i still have it, as well as three more.

Obliged,
Anthony

Obviously the last one isn't in accordance with the color specificity of the thread, but is a 293. :)
