The BK4 and BK5 have arrived.

Can't wait for cooler weather - too hot for a weekend outside around here.
 
I got my 2 and 14 today, I wait for the weekend 'til I can really put them to good use.
 
So I have been looking at the 3 big blades - BK4, BK5, and BK9 - and have realized the sheaths are just not up to snuff for the awesomeness of the blades. Decided to look at kydex and of course Azwelke was the first that came to mind.

Can someone help me justify about $375 in sheaths on $200 worth of blades? I just can't seem to find a real reason other than "because", which is usually enough for me most days. Anyone encounter real problems with the originals?
 
The big ones have poor retention without the snap loop, and are slow to deploy because of it. The blades rattle in the sheath unless you take the plastic insert out, and then it's still loose inside the sheath.

I'd say get a kydex and figure out for yourself if the difference is worth it. I'm getting a kydex for my BK9, my 5 and eventually my 4 will stay without until I use the kydex enough to know for sure whether it's gonna be that much better.
 
The BK4 seems to be a good fit inside the original sheath, but the BK5 needs a new sheath without doubt.

Been in South/Southwest Austin all my life - have not found a reason to leave (besides traffic and the crowds).

When I do leave it will be for the woods far away.
 
Austex, before you spend ALL your money on new pants for your BKs, you're overlooking my favorite all-around BK......................the 7. It's as awesome in it's own way as the other three you have. You won't understand how you lived without it after you add it to your BK harem.

You've obviously got a taste for chips, so I'm just informing you there's another bag on the counter. ;)
 
I looked hard at the BK7, but someone on YouTube kinda ruined it for me. Every time I look at it, it would remind me of that person.

Wish I bought it before seeing it on the Tube because it seems like a great blade. Maybe in a few years I will forget why I did not already own it.

I was a little hesitant about ordering a sheath that cost double of the blade, but the BK5 just looked sad in the factory sheath.

I already had my 7's by then and was too far in love to let a youtube dude wreck it for me.
 
Well, I liked my BK15 so much that I wanted more of it, so I ordered a BK5. Just three more days until it gets here. BK4 is on hold for now, maybe next month...

Here it is! Turns out I got the smooth, stamped version, which is awesome. My BK9 may have some competition for favourite Becker now...
 
Nice - I think all BK5s are stamped.

I cannot stop - just ordered a PROMO BK4 from KA-BAR. Hope it was not a website error - I thought they were all gone.
