Im a bit confused about these mosaic pins. Im looking at some but they come in 6" or 12" sizes. At first i thought OK, you just cut them to size and get a few from each rod.. but then i read this...

Outside metal is brass. Inside metal is brass. Color inside is black.

So will only the 2 ends show the design? If the inside color is black it seems like only the ends would have the design and that would make them useless?? i mean if you cut them then only one side would have the design, but 6-12" is way too big to use as is.

Am i understanding this wrong? do you indeed cut them to size and the design shows on both sides?
 
they are brass rods inside a brass tube that is injected/filled with black epoxy.
if you cut them, you will still have the mosaic patter on both sides.

Wait till you get one where the pins/tubes inside are a tiny bit twisted, so the pattern doesn't quite line up the same on both sides of the knife. Doh! :grumpy:

Hey if they were cheaper id grab them first if it was just the pattern was not quite lined up on both sides, but still the same pattern.

Hell NO. It's a ridiculous amount of work to do it right, and I'd go crazy trying to make enough different patterns to please everyone. When a client wants 'em on their knife I just send 'em links to my suppliers and let 'em pick out the ones they like.

I make knives, not homemade pins or bolts or micarta or half-vast "stabilized" wood or any of that stuff.
 
So your saying we wont be seeing a Terrio knife with half-vast "stabilized" wood bolsters with homemade micarta scales attached with homemade pins and complete jimping around the entire knife??

You know what would be cool? Differently shaped pins. Like hexagonal or stars or something. There's you a trademark thing Terrio. If only someone could playdoh squish out pins shaped like a hand giving the middle finger...

Honestly, I wouldn't think that would be THAT hard of a shape. It wouldn't be perfectly clear WHAT it was until they actually looked at it hard, however when they did it would be pretty cool. I would think it would just have to be two ellipsis overlapped. I know when making a sign using ASCII (?) it's pretty easy to do the middle finger which is just _,|,, and it is one of my favorites.

If one of the local geeks will correct me please, would that be considered ASCII? Or something else completely?
