So me the wife and kids went out to eat, i was going to get the porterhouse but they let me pick my steak from a huge mess of steaks and i went with an 18 ounce ribeye, i also got cheese grits because i love cheese grits, and some bacon mac and cheeze.. All delicious.

Also tried angry orchard beer... I though i was going to hate it but.... Kind of feel like a hypocrite a little now, but it was pretty good.

Daughter is 7 and ordered a full rack of ribs  She said it was my birthday so she was allowed whatever SHE wanted.... I laughed but let her get them because i know what she doesnt eat I WILL :)

Anyway, while all the food was delicious, after bringing our drinks the waiter disappeared, Some one else brought out the food, no one brought us silverware, we never got the bread that every table around us had... It was just bad service all around and i worked as a waiter for years so i always try and cut them some slack but this guy SUCKED. I had to get up and find a waitress to ask for silverware, We asked 2 separate waitresses for steak sauce and it never came...

Finally i got up and walked up to the man in the nicest suit and headset and said hey bud, im here with my family and while the food is delicious we cant get any service. My wife and kids drinks have been empty this entire time, we cant get steak sauce after asking several times, we had to hunt down silverware, and never even got the basket of bread... I told him the food is delicious man, we are enjoying that at least but we would really appreciate some better service.

So he got us another waitress, who did a fabulous job... In the end she brings the bill, it was 95 bucks and some change, Then i get the card out to pay and the guy in the suit comes over and asks to see the bill, i hand it him and he says hold on ill be right back..... He comes back and hands me the bill and says, hopefully thats a little easier on the wallet... He ZEROED the bill out and gave us the meal free :D

I tipped the lady a 20 that took over and shoved a 10 in the hand of the guy wearing the suit... He tried to give it back but i just said thanks and walked out the door.

Turned out a GREAT night.

I missed it but happy birthday man!

Sorry about your experience, but it seems like it ended up working in your favor. Free food is yummy, but sucky service just leaves a bad taste in your mouth no matter what. Had a situation happen like this one time on Valentines Day. The wife and I had not been on a "date" in forever, could not get a baby sitter, went out to eat with my two kids. We waited, waited, waited, and waited some more for our table, until before I blew a gasket I asked what was up... Well we were apparently seated 20 minutes ago?!?!?!:mad: After some conversation I figured out that apparently what had happened is that one of the hostesses had given our seats away to one of her friends who had came into the restaurant... I was seated within minutes after that BUT the kids were DONE at that point and the night was less than stellar. I got a hold of the manager, our meal was taken care of, the girl was "straightened" out, and within a couple of days some gift cards arrived at my home that covered another night out. Nothing gets under my skin quicker than sucky customer service... doesnt matter where I am, from the post office, to the grocery store, a drive through, or the gas station... I am not "mean" or do I go out of my way just to prove a point but I just have a special view on customer service altogether.

snark looked lonely. so I thought I'd cheer it up. Happy 31st year, WW - glad you got to celebrate the whole weekend. I have a friend that considers it his "birthday week" whenever his natal day comes around.

Bladite you need to fix the title. Land Snark was done before. 1/28/12 by Dubz.

so with this spring forward time change Ive been a grumpy old man... now here's Monday and all i wanna do is print some labels to ship... ya 2 hours later and I got only one to print... don't know why my computer and printer don't want to communicate.. I think I need to just turn everything off and go play some GTA today!!! feeling a little irritated!

LMAO, thats a good one, My father called earlier and told me im old now  i told him well he is ancient then!!

On my 30th, my dad told me what my grandmother had told him on his 30th.. "You're not old when you turn 30, you're old when your kid turn 30."

I hope to be old one day too.. :)

Happy Birthday Woody, looks like you had a good one!

The LAST time I went to Outback I got such horrible service that I will never go back to any of them again. The waiter was distracted to say the least.. he was late greeting us, late taking our drink order and then when he brought drinks he dropped the tray on me.. We finally got our food and I had to go ask someone for silverware, I finally sit down to eat after I got everyone's silverware and realize I got the wrong steak.. I see the guy walking around and tell him he got the wrong steak.. he looks around the table and says "no here is your plate" he grabs the plate from my niece (that she has already eaten part of) slides my plate over to her and set hers down in front of me, says "there you go" and walks off.. I went to complain to the manager and he apologizes and says he will get us another server.. No one shows up again, we finally say forget it and go to the front to pay.. they make a big deal about waiting at the table for the check.. I stayed pretty cool and told them If I knew who my server was I would ask them.. the manager brings out the bill and charges me full price. I told him to enjoy that money because it was the last time they would see any of mine.. he just shrugged it off. My wife worked as a server for 10+ years while I went to school then she did, I am VERY lenient if the person is at least trying.. but blatant bad service is one of my pet peeves..

So today I got updated material from the Blade show team. They updated the list of exibitors and they also changed the floorplan of the place. Last year being my first year I think we had a pretty crappy table location. In order to get better, you kinda have to become a regular. So, second year is much of the same thing so I thought. Upon the recomendation of the lady Ive been talking to, she said it might be in my best interest to keep my "crappy" table because of how there changing the layout this year. Boy was she right and I'm glad I did. So, good old table 12AA here we come, Last year it was totally in the back of the place. If I sold a knife everytime someone said "damn man, I wish you where back here, I wouldnt of spent all my money" then I would of sold out second day. Well the way if falls this year, Its one of the first tables of handmades you"ll come to after the factory booths. If that wasnt cool enough, We'll be about 6 booths away by way of the crow flies from Ethan and the Ka-Bar booth....... Murph ought to be happy, Now he wont have to walk all the way across the place wearing a T.M.Hunt t-shirt and a M-18 to the Ka-Bar booth to drink there beer! :D .. True story BTW

I hear ya. I tended bar and worked in a convenience store during my college years, and because of that experience I'm pretty patient with waiters and clerks and so on. But when they're bad/lazy/just plain stoopid, it's really frustrating. C'mon people, it's not that difficult

Never been a huge fan of Outback to begin with. The bloomin' onion is probably their signature dish as far as I'm concerned, and I can get an onion blossom at Texas Roadhouse...and really good fried pickles. But I'm probably biased... (see below)

I think everyone should be required to work in food service as a first "real job" (paper routes or mowing lawns don't count). Either that or serve in the Army...haha. I did food service at Six Flags over Mid-America for 5 summers as a teenager. My daughter was a barrista and crepe chef at an independent (NOT chain) coffee shop for 3 years, and now works in the coffee import business. My son worked at Texas Roadhouse for two years as a busboy, busboy trainer, and expo, and is now in college and focusing on doing well his freshman year. All of us appreciate how hard the work is and tip appropriately when service is good. It's not hard work like digging ditches or roofing houses in the middle of the summer, but it does take attention to detail, dedication, enthusiasm and a work ethic. Apparently that is too hard for some people, even the so-called managers like Lee ran into.

Happy Belated WorldWood!

Catching up on da snark as my daughter is napping :)

Thanks everyone!!

And yea i was a waiter for years.... I also dug ditches for a while... Id consider both manual labor, but digging ditches wasnt nearly as stressful. so i give servers a break as much as i can, but when you cant even find your server there is a problem. If i seen the man running around to other tables looking busy i wouldnt of got upset, but he was NO where to be found at all, but again...... for free steak i dont need any service at all, ill go back every week and eat with my fingers LMAO

I agree. The hard part is dealing with people.

Bartending is way funner than other service/retail jobs, because when folks get uppity you can just throw them out :D

Same reason I loved being a bouncer ;)

I LOVED bouncing, but mostly because I am not a large guy. People seem to automatically think that a large bouncer is for show and a smaller bouncer is for go. I got very little crap from people, and my big buddy Jason got messed wiith all the time. I actually asked some idiots who jumped him why him, and not me, and thats what they told me. They figured he was big so probably just to scare people, and since I am not, I was there to get it done. I was kinda tickled by that.

Yeah, that is truth.. guy I went to high school with was like that.. not big at all, kinda skinny and wiry.. saw him jump out of a truck and knock 2 guys out at the same time and jump on another as the first 2 were hitting the ground.. Another time I saw him hit a guy and as the guys legs were folding he hit him like 4 more times on the chin before he hit the ground.. got to watch out for the small and quiet ones , lol

I was far from the biggest guy where I worked.. but I have never been small either.. I didn't get picked on much at the bar, but mainly because I wasn't out running my mouth and I was polite to everyone until they did something .. best way to win a fight is to end it before it begins.. be it by calming people down or just going ballistic from the get go. I have never been much for posturing..

Went to the range today, I'm so out of practice it ain't funny. Still fun though. I think I might have a small blister on my hand. Need to remember my cushioned gloves next time I take the .44 mag out.

Supposed to be 70° here tomorrow. The son and I are gonna go fishing. Then Wednesday, we're supposed to get 1-3" of snow, haha. Good ol Illinois weather.

the wife and daughter are out of town for the night. im looking forward to not having to get up early. I may even have a couple beers tonight. which is rare on a week night. no work till 2pm.
