You can only have 1 EDC for the rest of you life, what would it be?

I know I've done this before, but it's always fun to play along...

(from the ones I own)

Folder: Emerson CQC-13

Fixed: Lon Humphrey Gunfighter Bowie

I would probably choose the Benchmade Big Summit Lake for various reasons. It is a lock back which is a tried and true design, the blade is made out of thick CPM S30V steel, it is a somewhat large folder but it still carries easily. IMO it is one of the best hard use folding knives Benchmade has ever made.

I posted earlier being a doofus, but forgot my actual on-point response. It would most likely be a fixed blade. If it was my only knife, I'd find a way to carry my S!K 4.7. Thin enough behind the edge for finer work, but stout enough to survive both any EDC adventures as well as all the camping I do.

I can handle anything I need to with the combination of a Opinel #9 and a Leatherman Micra.

In the last 18 years here I've answered that question probably a hundred times and have given the same answer about half the time. Now on the other half my answer was based on whatever blade held my attention at the time the question was asked. Now if you asked me to give you an answer that's based on experience I'd say go do a search of that very same question and you'll see my answer to this same question over and over again for at least half the posts and subsequent replies, that's gonna be your short answer.

Now the other half bein' divided up on multiple answers is a lot harder to pinpoint so personally I'd just pick any random knife that was in the periodicals at the time they came out. You didn't really give any limitations so I was wondering if an M-9 bayonet was an option, and if the sheath were attached to fully equipped a Navy Seal? Cause in all honesty if I'm in a scenario where I can only ever have one knife for the rest of my life than the life expectancy would be greatly increased if the blade came with someone better trained to insure that my life would at the very least make it ton a normal old age.

You didn't specify any money or handmade /production limitations so knowing so little about the parameters my only true answer would be what ever knife I don't have that I currently want. Now normally I don't even address these questions anymore because I've answered them so many times in the past but because you answered your own question in the OP (that's a pet peeve of mine, people who don't reply to their own what's your favorite (anything) threads. So because you had the courtesy to answer your own question first I'll give you my answer as of today.

If I could only have one it would be my Koster Bushcrafter knife with a true single bevel scandi grind, this knife is the perfect size for daily chores, whether it's dispatchin' zombies or gettin' dinner ready this makes a great companion. Now it's not stainless and will require maintenance but the degree of sharpness I can attain is worth the trade off.

If I have to had only one EDC I will go for something simple either a PM2 or a CRK

The OP said EDC. That does not preclude owning other knives that you might carry occasionally.

Doesn't really change my answer. If I could only have one knife, EDC or otherwise, I'd want it to be a knife that had no chance of something happening. So, that means a fixed blade (to me). I carry folders every day, but if something happened, I'd shrug, send it off to be repaired, take another folder from my huge pile, and truck on. If I only had one knife for every day carry, well then that means in that situation, I've got nothing.

"For the rest of my life"? I assume I'd have time to buy a dream knife. I have a drawer full of knives but I don't think any of them are up to rest of my life. I'd want a super steel and everything else about it indestructible. Something in multi hundreds of dollar range I'm sure

I could never answer this question. there couldn't ever be just one.

seriously.

I've got a bunch and I could never choose between them. some I favor more than others but still never would I choose just one. give me death if I have to choose.

It's a tough choice but today it would be this:

It would be my Seamus Knives Irish Uber Crossover. This is THE knife for me.
