You can only have 1 EDC for the rest of you life, what would it be?

Tough choice between my large CRK Insingo and my alox Soldier. I typically carry one of them every day.

I'll answer this question one of two ways.

If I had to get rid of my current collection except for one knife it would be this one:

Because it was made by a friend and it has the edge geometry of a kitchen knife, I kid you not its one of the thinnest edges I've ever seen.

On the other hand if I got to keep all my knives and just carry one of them, it would be the one I currently carry everyday:

Because, utility.

If you limit me to just one, it'll be this:

Or to generalize, a classic 4-blade camper/scout pattern. And if I can add one more — hey, they're small! — it'll be a Vic Classic.

So now we know it will be a scout pattern to accompany the first mission to Mars!

Spyderco Millitary with a regrind. M4

Nice and thin with a long blade. Covers the bases.

My keys, which happen to have a Victorinox Classic on the key ring.

I gotta agree with that! In all the years I've had my classic, I've been unable to leave the house without it. Its been right there in the ignition from one side of this country to the other, and back again. Been used on a trout fishing trip in the Sierra Nevada's, picnic on the beach at Dana point California, and opened plastic food packs in the Badlands in South Dakota. You can make a great case for the knife that's always there!

Well my collector side would go with my Sebenza 21 celtic pattern

But my practical side would have to choose the XL voyager clip point. This knife can do it all, its like carrying a folding bowie/kitchen knife thats fits discreetly in your pocket and has a lock so strong it could flex into a fixed blade role if it came down to that. I think it is the best dollar for dollar blade out there.

If the "rest of my life" is 70 years, then Benchmade Griptilian because the warranty is unmatched and I can get a new blade on it for $30. If the "rest of my life" is a year or less, than Southern Grind Spider Monkey.

Although I hope it would never come to this, my Leatherman Charge TTi would have to be the one. With it, I am equipped for any job, great or small. Carrying it on a daily basis would be more of a challenge than a SAK, which is the reason I own a few SAKs, but manageable, especially with a horizontal sheath. With the accessories, you can do just about anything that can be done with a multi-tool.

Vic Classic for me as well, it's the only knife that I've truely carried everyday aside from that it goes with me on vacation, was at the hospital when all my kids were born, it walked with me down the aisle on my wedding day, and I continue to use it daily.

If smatchet isn't already taken, sign me up. I mean, it's choppy but stabby all at once. Plus the name sound like a weird combo of smash + hatchet and how can you beat that?

Alternately I'd also consider this non-existent Spyderco I created mucking around with my paint program and a picture of a Rubicon:

I mean, I know it doesn't exist because I'm the one that photoshopped it, yet I still want it so it must have something going for it.

Perhaps this one. Simple strong and sharp as sin

I have edc this knife at work every day since I received it. Barely notice it's at my side.

Cold Steel Recon 1 Spear Point. Tough, sharp, durable. Most of my sentiment is projected unto my fixed blade knives.
