Has there been a knife that you really wanted to like but when you finally got to handle it you just couldent make yourself like it for whatever reason?

The Spyderco Military for me. I'm hoping 3rd time's a charm when I get the M4, frame lock/G-10 version.

The Spyderco Military didn't really hit it off with me.
The Benchmade 940 hasn't won my fancy, either.

me - apparently not one of the mainstream guys

Yeah that happened to me with the Böker (or as you know it, Boker) Turbine II.
Nicely made, nice finish, good size, but I just didn't like how it felt in the hand.

And yeah, you especially want to like the knife when it's an expensive one (160€ this one) :(

Yeah, I dont like the jimping on the osborne folders and I dont like the Military as much as everyone else...maybe if I had a Military I'd like it, but I had a Gaucho that wasnt as great as jived up to be.

The Kulgera is really nice folder though, if I run into a good deal I'll definitely pick one up.

I can't love the Sebenza. Held one, played with it, and it just doesn't feel right to me.

Why can't you wrist flick with a Sebenza? $340 knife, I'd like to 'use' it and not void the warranty.

(don't flame me fanboys, just my opinion)

Yeah, the Sebenza is one for me also. Though I personally don't care that I'm not allowed to wrist flick it. To each his own.

I've never been to impressed with Sebanzas either. For some reason they just don't "do it" for me.

The large 21 Sebenza put a major "hot spot" in my hand. It had to go and will be my last CRK. I must say that it was really well made though. :)

The SS Spyderco Police...Or so I thought. Every time I handled one I thought it was too slippery, hated the small opening hole and the ergos felt a little off to me.
My Dad and I often trade knives just to play with something a little different. He gave me a Police to try out for a few weeks and I gave it a fair shake. I gave it back to him, bought my own and now I carry it constantly.

Spyderco Paramilitary; no clip options, short blade/long handle. The Para II just might solve some of my dislike for the model though. I want to like it - I really do.

thx - cpr

Griptilian. I love the handle, the weight and the axis lock. Unfortunately, the blade shape is useless and the serrations poorly designed. It s too bad, because it would otherwise make a great edc.

SMF and Military for me. Felt relieved when they were gone, perfectly good knives, no love from me.

+1 Spyderco Military : Jokingly huge for public use / comfortable + convenient EDC, looks like the weapon of choice for a serial killer, and blade is way too thin/brittle for any heavy-duty use.

+1 (Large) Sebenza : Handle is way too large for comfortable + convenient EDC, and the bare titanium needs "something" (contoured like Umnum or Inlays).

Both knives rank in the top 10 most popular knives and had my expectations soaring, but let me down completely.

Strider here. For the last three years at Blade Show I've gone & looked at them, determined to buy. Everyone raves so I must be missing something. But again each year they just don't feel right in my hand. So haven't bought yet.

I had a KaBar USMC that I just never got use to. The handle felt way too big in my hand, and the knife overall was just huge.

What makes it look that way to you as opposed to other knives?
