UPDATE: I forwarded my reply (Post #3 above) to my wife. I've got a birthday coming up, and I think she's game! That simple. No restrictions or specifications. I want to know what you would want at that price point...
Pretty close to what I would suggest, along with a Herman knife. While I would probably pick one of my Demko AD20’s, these would be some more of my pragmatic choices, either around $800 table price or on the secondary.

Yes very good recommendation, I almost forgot about the Paysan. Might have to add this to the shortlist. Thnx! With $800, I'd totally go for the Spyderco Paysan! It's an amazing knife, perfectly balanced with a titanium build. The blade is made from S90V, super sharp and durable. I love this knife, use it daily, never let me down.
If you're into something more "tactical," check out the Benchmade Anthem. Also titanium, with AXIS Lock, super smooth action!![]()
Completely fair! I cosign your priorities!I would get a Buck 112 Slim Ranger for about $80, and use the rest to buy a new revolver.![]()

If I'm being honest they're both far too large for my taste. I prefer a gentleman's knife size, about 2.75" - 3.25" blade max. Don't get me wrong, I respect and appreciate both, they're just not for me.If you can find one for $800, the Nirvana would be the better purchase.
Too many reported lock stick problems w/the Paysan. I owned 1 and sold it because of that.![]()
With that qualification, I'd suggest the Oz Machine Co. Roosevelt (a/k/a Rosie). I don't think you can buy a better small knife at any price. Impeccable quality, USA made, fantastic action, and the best ergonomics on a 3" blade knife I've ever experienced. Honestly, it has better ergos than most 3.5+" knives. The only caveat is that the blade stock is quite thin for excellent slicing, but definitely not for hard use.If I'm being honest they're both far too large for my taste. I would love to, but I've never seen one for sale or trade that wasn't 1300 or more. With that qualification, I'd suggest the Oz Machine Co. Roosevelt (a/k/a Rosie). There's one on the Exchange right now, with mods and an extra scale, for $1025. They come up fairly frequently in the $800-900 range if you keep your eyes peeled.I would love to, but I've never seen one for sale or trade that wasn't 1300 or more.
