You know what would be awesome? A BladeForums Special Edition Becker BK16.

Thanks for the update, Kevin. I knew there was a reason I held off on the BK7 so far. ;)

Wow! Just the prospect of a special BK16 is great news. Hopefully it will all work out over time. I need time to save up the money for one anyway! :D

Stonewashed, micarta handled BK-7? Yes please. I'll take at least one.

Great work pushing the barrow on the super-BK16 as well. Will be worth the wait I'm sure.

@Kevin:

Sincerely, thank you for putting your time and effort into this. I am continually amazed by this community (both BF and the Becker sub-forum) since I've entered it and how much the higher ups care about the legion of fans/whiners/complainers/tapped-out-credit-card-owners. Whether it happens tomorrow or in two years, the fact that you are pushing for it is cool enough to me.

That's pretty cool Spark. Thanks for talking to John on our behalf, and thanks for coming up with this project to begin with.

Despite the time lag I think that's pretty encouraging news.

Thanks for your time and effort on the project so far.

All of this is great news! I don't NEED another BK7, but a SE run like that would convince me otherwise.

hmmm...
the possibility of a BK7LE with all the bells and whistles to go with my BK10LE?...
Innnteresssting...

I'll definitely buy 2 BK7's. If they do the regular BK7 blade grind, a fuller would be cool to make it even more distinctive.

All right, bad news / good news time.

Here's the deal: I had a great talk with John from Ka-Bar and bounced some ideas off him.

Wow, thanks for the report, Spark. Great insight into what goes on in large-scale knife production.
Also, great news for the knife economy and domestic US manufacturing! Regardless of whether or not a special edition BK gets made, I'm delighted to hear they're operating beyond capacity AND hiring to keep up.

Wow. Thank you, Spark for going all out to make this a possibility. I hope it works out, because that would be awesome.

Thanks for the news, Spark. That BK7 sounds like it would be a pretty neat addition to anyones collection! Let's just see what the price range is going to look like now. How much do you think this one would compare to the BK77?

How did I miss this thread? Coolest thing ever man thanks!

If I may make a recommendation:

When this BK16 business is pretty well come to fruition, put a poll up it the BF stickies with the type of steel and estimated cost associated with each blade, gauge out what people want vs. cost. It's easy to be all for something before you see the cost.

Ex:

S35V:$$$ - O
D2:$$$ - O
1095:$$$ - O
154:$$$ - O
etc.....
