You think that your Striders or Busses are prybars? Check this out.

I'm not a knife expert, by any means, however, I would think that if this design were made into a folder it would lose it's raison d'etre, that is, the ability to be used as a prybar as well as a knife. Folders as prybars would be more/most likely to break at the hinge, than in the steel itself, which, I believe, is the strength of having this design as a fixed blade.

I'm only replying because you haven't received any replies to your question, despite having asked twice.

It wouldn't have to be THAT thick or THAT much of a prybar, but something I could pry a bullet out of a tree with without worrying about breaking the tip off. Thank you kindly for the reply.

Just wanted to post an update, I took it home last month from a German knife forum member gathering that took place at Jürgen's shop and I'm even more impressed with it now than when I got the pics! It's unbelievably strong and the perfectly finished steel coupled with the shiny silver G-10 scales lead me to the conclusion that even Jürgen's great pictures don't do it justice.

The high-riding belt sheath (black leather) is both beautiful and highly practical, it's not much more of hassle to carry than your run-of-the-mill small EDC fixed blade.

I personally LOVE that knife!!! It is different. And I like sharp prybars!!! Thanks for sharing pix with us!!

@ quiet storm,
can you post a picture with the sheath?

In a couple of weeks maybe, I currently don't have access to a digital camera. And I'll have to see how it turns out - unfortunately my photography skills suck...

I like it ALOT...reminds me stock and grind wise alot of the Wally Hayes Hornet . great work and great photos!
Loandr.

That's one of the most beautiful pieces of steel I've ever seen!!!

Even if it has some practical application problems as some other posters might suggest. I don't find that as even being a relevant issue. YOU designed it for YOURSELF.

Good on ya mate.

Yep...its a prybar. I bet you can hold down a lot of paper with it but I cant see another use.

Paper weight, I think not.

Thick knives make excellent (and painful) handles on BGs.

I have a 5/16ths thick custom from Justin of Ranger Knives. Its barely 7in long. It was made as a purely indestructible self-defense knife. I guarantee you could pound it through a cinder block.

And yes, it is VERY sharp. Thick knives love hollow grinds.

Well it isn't my cup of tea, as a user, but it is beautiful and impressive. I'm glad it exists. Somebody had to do it. That knife is a work of art. A bit thick for my taste and I can't imagine ever using it, but I can easily understand why a knife lover would love to have it. Outrageously thick!:D

We ought to encourage people to try different combinations so we will not end up with stereotypes only.
