Here is a BK17 I just finnished modding. It has been stripped and had a patina added. I also made custom maple scales for it.

The patina was done using apple cider vinegar, brown mustard, and lemon juice.

The scales came from giant log rounds from trees that used to grow in our city parks. I start with axes and hatchets, and then work up to knives. The final maple boards are now made using a table saw. After that, I screwed them on and rounded/shaped them with a belt sander. I finished them at 600 grit and then applied an old-fashioned 3-in-1 oil finish.

You know I was fairly certain that when I joined the BF I would be among the youngest, clearly I was wrong

I like it, looks like a traditional bk17! I'm working on some scales to......

How do ya'll sharpen your knives? I use a sharpmaker and strops.

Free hand on old diamond lansky stones and a homemade strop, a 3/4" wide 5" long stone really make you focus on technique haha. I can achieve hair whittling on my super blue spydies, something that put a big ol smile on my face. :D

my next big purchase after Christmas will be a wicked edge though.

Anyone else flip a bali? My kimura 7's got a bit of bloodlust, but I love her all the same. :D

That looks great! I only own one Becker, but the BK17 has been keeping my interest. Maybe for Christmas haha.
