Getting there-

The original plan was to choose one worn-out chef's knife and build up a metal handle to pretend it looks like a punal. I got as far as sawing the pinkie hook off of this one. "A man's got to know his limitations." I don't just know my limitations, I embrace my limitations.

Made a handy Clip Slip for my AG Woods Walker...
More great work there, John! :) What weight of leather did you use for the Lambslip?

This bowl came very close to never happening. Black locust is a very hard wood so I though I would try a different angle with my bowl gouge to speed up the process .
I got a nasty catch that send the bowl flying off the lathe and broke part of the tenon used to hold it.
It was difficult to remount and center it again and it came smaller than what it would have been.
( I am going to watch some you tube videos on proper wood turning technique :) )
Incredible stuff, Dan! You got the steady hand for sure, and nerves of steel!:thumbsup:

Once every arrives my plan is to combine this blade

With this silver handle

Payed a bit for a project knife, but with these very common solingen hunters sellers always want an arm and a leg unless the blade is too far gone and they still want too much.

Got the knife for just under $50 shipped and the carving fork for $10 shipped.

It has some minor sharpening damage on the other side, but wasn't used much.

Hopefully it all proves worth it when I'm done.

I got around to stitching leather handle wraps on the 3 bows I made for family members recently. Also made a double scallop sided eastern woodland Indian style bow of osage for myself. This one won't get a handle wrap or arrow shelf as I prefer to shoot off the hand/knuckle. Heres a couple pics.:)

Very cool. You'll have to post a video of one in action!

I appreciate the craftsmanship, the heritage, and the sport. Super nice!:thumbsup:

Thanks for the nice comment John, much appreciated. I've always enjoyed working with my hands and creating something from natural materials, not unlike what you do with your awesome leather work.

Thanks Joshua. :) We're camping next weekend with the 4 daughters, spouses and grandkids and we'll all be shooting arrows together, maybe I can shoot a short video on the phone.

I finally had a chance to catch up on this thread. I also had time this weekend to do this bottle opener with Mexican blanket micarta and white liners.

Nice choice of materials, looks great!!

Still waiting on the knife and such to arrive, but today I did get a message from the seller of the carving fork telling me that they're refunding me the cost of the item itself because there's a delay in getting it in the mail.

So $5 is what it's costing me and that's not bad.
