Your EDC and INTERESTING REASONS THEY ARE YOUR CHOICES?)?

CRKT P.E.C.K. for sheeple, and because it's small and clips to my key chain. BM 730SBT for the solid axis lock, combo edge for boxes and whatever, and the size which allows for SD use.

Weekends I rotate a lot of stuff, so I'll do my most common weekday knife carry:

Leatherman Juice S2 - Compact multitool. A step up from the minitools, while still being small enough for a front pocket. Has plain edge blade and scissors on the outside for easy accessibility. Good quality screwdrivers that are the size I need. Screwdrivers are dedicated, rather than combined with other tools like a can opener. Pliers and wire cutters are adequate for light-duty tasks on office, lab, and computer equipment. Comfortable to use, both open and closed. No extra tools that I don't need. Good warrantee and customer support. Did I mention that I like this tool?

Spyderco Rescue Jr - Light weight knife with serrated blade for hard materials. I abuse this knife and use it for things that I shouldn't. I have an older model with ATS-55 steel, which is not easily damaged. Pocket clip for easy access and SpydieHole for one hand opening in case of an emergency. A good working tool from a company that I admire. What more could I ask for?

:)

The LE for Germany. An auto with axis lock.

Why?

Blade steel: S30V. Takes a very sharp edge and holds it for long.

Blade shape: Nothing really new, i mean nothing on that knife is really new exept the auto axis lock. But the shape is practical in use. A high grind for superior slicing, pointy enough for stabbing, thick enough to be called strong, long enough (3,25") to be usefull. I thought, it might be too short, but found out, that it has an ideal length. I am able to cut very secure, b/c i can lay the whole indexfinger on the blades spine, to prevent accidental stabbings.

The handle is made right for me. There is no grip, that is not comfort. Hammer gip, reverse, edge up edge to the side, grip the handle a bit at the back or a bit more towards the blade, whatever, it is comfort. Oh, it is not a flat handle. Very nice and not disturbing in the pocket.

Lock security in open or closed position. I don´t use the security in the closed. No need for this. Axis is secure. But as an addition a great thing to have it for the open. Reminds me on the discussions "What if an omega spring breaks?"

I guess i like it.

My favorite EDC and reasons.

Camillus Dominator: Large enough to do anything I need, strong enough as well. S30V steel, titanium scales. The best part and why this is my favorite is the assisted opening. This has had me thinking about a Microtech OTF lately. The idea of “pull it out, open, cut, close before most people even know what happened is thrilling. Just haven’t seen one yet and it is pricey.

Greco Falcon: As has been said, “Could hack my way out of an elevator if needed”. Carbon steel blade 3/16 thick, frame lock; this knife inspires confidence, PERIOD. The only reason it is not my favorite, is that the Dominator opens easier and faster. Very comfortable to carry, even in the pocket due to its overall thickness at 3/8. Sharpens easily and holds an edge quite well.

Benchmade 941D2CF: Very comfortable, relatively sheeple friendly, strong enough for any normal work. Smoothest knife I own.

I have been considering a straight knife for EDC, even started a thread to that effect. I received an A. G. Russell Woodswalker for Christmas. Excellent knife for the money. Small, but very useful. I am considering a Blackjack Small. A folder has the advantage of being very easy to put back in the pocket when finished, whereas a straight knife takes a little more finesse, just not sure yet.

by this I am thinking you mean a fixed blade right? You also have me looking serously at the Greco line.....

I have been reading several threads lately about the Spyderco bowie and, with its lightness, see were this would be a very attractive option. The only problem for me is the 5" blade and our local and state laws being very very down on fixed blades. I live in Washington state - anyone know about the laws here.-

Bell, tell me about your Dodo - now that you have had it awhile how is the blade for a ecd; is it primarily defensive, or do you find it handy with day to day chores?

Peshkabz,

Yes, when I say straight blade, I mean fixed blade. Since you mention Greco, I just ordered his Companion model on Tuesday, received it yesterday. Great knife for the money. This will be a real work horse. As I said before, I have been very happy with his Falcon model. I don't think you can find a better knife for the money.

Like everybody else, my EDC's rotate. Today, I'm carrying

Victorinox Midnight Minichamp II (on keyring)
-great knife for quick and easy access when I need a small blade for opening packages or just when I need a light

Leatherman Wave
-my all around multi-tool for bigger chores

Gerber A-F Combat Folder
-the big cutter for when a small blade won't do.

Case Camper's Knife w/ pliers
-my sheeple friendly knife whne at the office

The goal of my EDC's are to allow the most usage from the fewest knives. All of these allow me to be ready for just about anything from delicate cuts to life's little emergencies.

There's a knife drawer that contains my most used. The LST is mine, a POS Made in China thing to get abused and a serrated POS for rope.

Of all the knives shared here -

How many of you have been disapointed with your knive selection?

If you would steer someone another direction in choices, based upon your experiance, what would you say to everyone else?

How many would you make the same choices?

So the reasons for choosing you knives, still stands?
