its always cool to hear the diverse opinions.
What are your favorite brands? Your favorite models? What is it about each brand that excites you? What do they do "right" for you? Why do you like it?

My favorite company right now is WE. They just make so many things in a whole range of prices and features. And with the quality being what it is, I cant think of another company that gives what they give at their prices. And I just happen to really like their asthetic too.

Nathan Carothers aka Nathan the Machinist aka CPK which stands for Carothers Performance Knives and not the pizza chain! By far much better value than some similarly priced production blades and Nathan's knives are semi-custom. The ONLY caveat? Good luck trying to get one and those who know what I am blabbering know exactly as to why I said this. What does he do right? ergos, balance, F&F, toughness, innovation, symmetry, heat treat, choice of material, etc... Vastly underpriced (this is all relative) IMHO but then again Nathan does not come across as greedy. A very fair American craftsman who makes one of the most efficient cutting tools I have had the pleasure to own.

My favorite companies for new knives are Buck and Victorinox for their high quality to low cost ratio.
For old knives my favorite company is imperial because their blades are so thin and slicy , their carbon steel easily takes a great edge, and in general their knives are real lightweight making them perfect for edc.

Hard to pick only one given that there exist so many great brands. ZT, Spyderco, Hinderer, Benchmade, and Reate are among the ones I very much like.

Spyderco. Their knives just work too well and they offer the same knife in multiple different steels. Plus they come out with new stuff very often which is exciting. I also like the story of how they came to be as a company

Survive knives all the way ... Trc close second

Survive! is my second fave fixed blade purveyor. Looking forward to trying some of their newer D3V HT whenever they hit the resale market

Benchmade hands down! Reason why? These 3

You know what I may be part of the minority here. CS. Recon 1 aus8. Because it's practically bullet proof. Sharpens easily in the field after being trashed. I drank the coolaid and pissed on my expensive knives that collect dust

My TKC scaled ESEE 4 remains a core knife. Small, flat, light enough as to almost feel non existent on a belt. Yet big and tough enough to assure me of its utility in the middle of nowhere.

I can't pick one because they're all good at different things. I own more spyderco knives than anything else, however I think kershaw/zt and Benchmade have better customer service from my personal dealings.

Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard for fixed and CRK for folders. Those will always top my list.
However, the two which get me excited these days are CPK for fixed and Spyderco for folders.
CPK/Spyderco are both relatively affordable and both are doing interesting things with steels.

Spyderco. The ergonomics, materials, locks and grinds. Everything works together and is designed around slicing and cutting performance. Sal is a steel junky as bad as any of us and has not only brought us lots of choices but has gone out of the way to do things like the mule team for those of us who like to learn and be exposed to new and very high performing steels.

ESEE for simple fixed blades, just practical and functional.
Busse on the higher end of things...

No opinion on folders.

Zero Tolerance. USA made, most are titanium with KVT bearings and high end blade steel. They also use real carbon fiber for their scales unlike other companies.

Where could I find those Mule team knives? Have they stopped those? I'm gonna get a couple of those. I'd love to make my own handle on those.
