Your favorite knife company/ Your favorite thing about them?

I've been a Spyderco freak for the last few months.
So far I've got a Manix 2, Paramilitary 2, Delica 4, and on the way I've got a Stretch 2 coming to me.
I've been into Traditional folders for years... GEC, Case, Boker... etc.. but for everyday work knives, these just
aren't practical, and I get tired of having to re-sharpen CONSTANTLY throughout the day.
I started to research Spyderco, and eventually got my first, a Manix 2... it won me over IMMEDIATELY.
Then the others followed suit... to the degree that I just can't carry anything else other than Spyderco.
My daily rotation is my Spydercos.
FINALLY, I can put a sharp edge on and it lasts all day.. I might strop or do a touch-up later.
Seriously, these knives are everything I have always needed in a daily work knife that I was not
getting from Traditionals. All my love for the "Old-timer" type knives means nothing in the end
if they are a chore to work with.
The fit, finish, solidness of Spyderco, and the S3oV and V-10 steels are just blowing my mind!

Right now it is Spyderco. The sheer amount and diversity of their offerings makes them hard to beat.

Come back and forth between Benchmade and Spydero for the majors, George and Chaves for the indie league.

Spyderco, Zero Toleranace, and Benchmade. Spyderco makes some damn good knives, Zero Tolerance mades some damn good knives, and Benchmade makes some damn good knives

For my EDC it's ZT . I'm a big fan of Rick Hinderer's design and ZT does it right .

The knife is built solid , the fit and finish is excellent and their customer service is top notch .

For fixed blades it's Survive Knives , Busse and Swamp Rat .

Kai USA -

Their passion for making fine products and for their customers is without equal in this or many other industries.

I also love Busse and JK Handmade Knives - again, a passion for making a fine product and making sure the customer has a great experience.

Just my experience and opinion.

best

my favorite company is Three Rivers Mfg a subsidiary of Halpern Titanium. The crew, the designs, the materials, quality and designs.

Spyderco for all the options in super steel with a decent HT for production knives. real user knives. affordable prices for those super steel's.

ZT for its above average Quality (the quality standard) and price for materials (tho ZT's steel is a let down being that its HT'ed Soft (not optimal) across the board).

of course Reate, WE, and Rike, CKF made in china with great action and prices for materials and designs.

My favorite knife company is Olamic Cutlery, because they make the Wayfarer which to me is one of the most perfect knives available. High end, handmade perfection and I've gotten to know the owner, who's a great guy. My everyday group a year or so ago would probably have been Spyderco. I came back to them after a hiatus because I love how you can get some of their most popular models in a veritable rainbow of steels. Today right now, my everyday favorite would be Emerson. I love all of them that I have, they fit great in the hand, and are easy to sharpen. Simple tools that work for me.

Spyderco, because FRN and a back lock. Satisfaction guaranteed. My little brown Delica is the knife I've had the longest, yet still carry the most.

Benchmade, because Axis lock and they're tough. I don't have time for fumbling around. "I've never seen anyone move so fast" was a comment a coworker recently made to me, lol. I'm a bartender - my black jeans are akin to a carpenter and his tool belt. Phone and lighter in FL pocket, bottle opener in LR pocket, wine key and bar towel in RR pocket. In my FR pocket resides my trusty BM531 and wallet. Customers at the bar hear it, but they rarely see it when deployed briefly [the knife..]. Coworkers think I carry a switchblade, the young ladies gasp when I flip it up into the air spinning and catch it, certain I'm going to grab the wrong end. It goes through the washers regularly, and performs without hiccup. The yellow 556 and 940 with a broken tip (poor at being a screwdriver) have also been more than impressive as I've improvised with them far too many times to count. While I'd love to have more, I have more than I need already.

I would probably say Spyderco. I really like their designs, and they offer a huge variety of products in different price ranges. Plus their quality seems to be consistent, so you don't have to pay a premium price to get a good Spyderco.

It is hard to narrow down for me. I used to be a hardcore Benchmade fan and have more than a dozen knives from them. I carried a 710 for years but I think they have greatly diluted their brand by going mass market and offering lower end knives. They have also gotten very gimmicky with their "limited" edition knives.

I bought a Microtech LUDT which was ridiculously sharp and carried that for years. They make some damn good knives that are incredibly sharp and incredibly gorgeous (if you can say that about a knife). They have some great designs and their quality is awesome.

My latest EDC has been a ZT 562CF in M390 and that knife has been in my pocket for a few years already. I really like a lot of their designs and their prices are very reasonable for great quality knives with great steels. Out of the box sharpness leaves a little to be desired, but nothing a few minutes of work with a good stone can't fix.

I have quite a few Spydercos as well including their S110V Paramiltary 2. I love their incredibly diverse choice of steels, light weight, Great out of the box sharpness, and reasonable prices. Their designs are a little boring, but they are highly functional. For some reason or other, none of my Spydercos have stayed in my pocket very long.

I love Lion Steel's Ti Spine which I have with Damascus steel. The knife is simply gorgeous and I can't bring myself to carry it. Other than its beauty, the small notch makes it hard to deploy. Lion Steel makes some gorgeous knives with some incredible finishes.

I think anyone's list would be incomplete without mentioning Chris Reeve Knives. I have a Sabenza with Devin Thomas Damascus steel that is too beautiful to be carried. I also bought a carbon fiber scale Sabenza with the Insingo blade. I will probably eventually carry that one.

I don't baby the knives I carry so I have a hard time bringing myself to carry the "pretty knives". LOL

CRK for the smoothness of action and basic utilitarian design

ZT for the quality of their overbuilt construction.... I am not such a fan of light EDC ZT but their heavy ones have always enjoyed me ;)

Spyderco because of their philosophy and quality for value

Victorinox. The consistency, quality, and versatility with respect to price is unmatched for my needs.

For me it is so very hard to name just one.

Of the many that I like - they have been mentioned by others in this thread.

If I had to pick one - just one, it would have to be Becker Knife & Tool mainly because of Ethan Becker. The knives have great designs, steel with soil (1095 plus some extra chromium and vanadium), handles that allow comfort during longer task sessions and outstanding value; and they are made by a very respectable company - KaBar. While all of this should be enough, the man behind the knives is the icing on the cake.

Of course, this should not be construed as to take away anything from other makers and company owners; there are some great folk in this industry.

Separately, this is a great era to be into knives. The evolution of designs, metallurgy, manufacturing processes and competition have yielded extraordinary products and values.

Picking only one is very difficult.

KAI USA.
Kershaw for their awesome budget knives and also variety in models. Tons of variations on blurs for example.
ZT for high quality, overbuilt knives. 300 series hooked me. With Tigerstripes obviously.
Benchmade for their axis lock and Spyderco for their diversity and value.
Forgot to mention the awesome CS from KAI. And hinderer, Sinkevich, Onion and Strider designs for poor people.
