Your first high quality knife?

Can't remember most of them, been carrying something every since 1949,probable the most expensive at the time was a Buck woodsman I got to go deer hunting in Colorado in 1968,and a buck 110 in 72,and a sm sebenza 10 yrs ago,a custom 3 in D2 with walnut burl handle for $150 a couple yrs ago,but I still have over 50 or more assorted knives and multi tools also.

Ret Chief USAF

Cold Steel GI Tanto. It's been used, it's been abused, and it's been far more than worth my money.

My first quality blade was a Kershaw Sapphire given to me by an old boss. used it for years and still have it. My first blade over $100 was a Spyderco Valloton, what a knife! I do regret trading it off. May have to get another some day.

Kershaw Leek was my first quality knife. Terrific knife for the money; I recently gave it to my brother-in-law as a birthday present.

I'd have to say my Kershaw folding field knife was my 1st better quality knife. I knew this one was going to be put up and not used.

Benchmade 707 Sequel about a decade ago. (production)
Or my Gary Mulkey lock-back wharncliffe which was given to me about 20 years ago. (custom)

Böker Black Forest.

everything about it just felt like quality. I'd it had had a lefthand carry option I would still have owned it.

Kershaw Blur S30V. I read about it in a Mitch Rapp novel by Vince Flynn and had been thinking about quality knives due to the influence of my new brother in law. My first over $200 knife was a ZT0561. My first over $500 knife... well, that hasn't happened yet, but it's bound to.

At the time I got it, I considered the Buck 110 to be high quality. Still one of my favorites to this day.

Well the term "high quality" can mean different things to different people. One person may find that their SAK is high quality while another doesn't. I don't think there is a strict definition for the term "high quality". But that's just my opinion.

My first knife was an Old Timer. My first high quality knife was a case stockman. Used to buy Old Timers til one got stolen and had to replace it. You never know the difference between blades until you go from a cheapy to really nice one.
