Your knife clipped to pocket ever fall out?

i have lost two because of them sliding out while clipped on. Both were kershaws; one a blackout and one a whirlwind. I have had spyderco delicas and a native and benchmade 940-1, none of which have ever slid out. I think the clip is more important than some people give it credit for and is often taken for granted. Whenever i buy a pocket knife since the Kershaw, i slip the knife into my pocket to test the retention of the clip. If it is too loose, i don't buy

Yep well it didn't fall out per say, but the throw net I was throwing to get bait for fishing sure snagged the clip and took it right out of my pocket. It went into the river in 40 ft. of swift Mississippi river water. Oh! it was a pimped emerson 10, I was sick for awhile over that beauty. I'll never take another expensive knife on the water like that again. If it had been the Satu I have the net would have been hanging from my pocket still. That knife has the stoutest pocket clip I have ever seen. I've thought about bending it out a little but I'll just leave it alone I think.

Yes, I lost my all-time favorite carry knife that way. It was a Benchmade 705-401, the limited edition with silver-twill G-10. Went to the movies with it clipped in my front pocket, as usual. It was gone when I got home and I never saw it again. :(

I've had the flipper on my 300SN benchmade cause the blade to open upon impact with the ground. The first time it happened, I was getting up to leave my class. Now, I have some fishing line tied to it so I don't lose it.

A couple weeks ago I lost my Manix 2 for a few days, which never happens. I found it clipped neatly inside a brown paper grocery bag, totally pickpocketed by my own groceries.

About 15 years ago, I was dragging trash, boxes and old carpet off a trailer at the landfill. That dragging/pitching motion snagged my Spyderco Endura (one of the orig zytel clip models) and took it right off into the garbage pile. Only realized it was gone on the way back home. I still miss that knife. :D

I once lost a 5f pos that was clipped to my pocket while I was riding my friends go-kart, but that's the only time I can think of that a knife with a clip even fell out of my pocket.

Couple of times I've had a knife slip out of my pocket getting in & out of a car when the knife was a heavier folder with a weaker clip. It happens.

I had the clip to my ZT0562 snap off but fortunately the knife just fell into my pocket. Doe this count?

Many seem to feel that the clip makes loosing a knife unlikely. I think it actually adds another random chance loss element (catching on something) to the equation. That said, clips make retrieving the knife generally a little easier or keeping it positioned in the same place in a pocket. You can also scratch things or ripe holes in things with the clip. One needs to pay attention no matter what carry method you use.

I have never lost a knife this way, but I have had them essentially yanked out of my pocket when they catch on things. But I have never had a clipped knife "fall out" as the title suggests.

Many years ago I spent the night on my sailboat, a 250 Catalina wing keel. I woke up in the morning to a freshening breeze. I uncleated the mainsail and raised it. As I was going forward to raise the anchor my Spyderco Delica caught on the sidestay and pulled it from my pocket. It kind of sounded like a small fish that had jumped out of the water when it fell into the lake!

I have some pants with a good-sized watch pocket that I thought would be ideal for carrying a knife. However, whenever I would sit or raise my knee, my leg would push up on the knife, sometimes far enough to unclip it. I never lost a knife that way, but had several fall out. I lost my Griptilian like that, the one my wife gave me. I found it the next day lying on the pavement next to my bus, but I had already ordered a replacement.

On the other hand, un clipped knives also fall out of my pocket.

Yes unfortunetely I have lost three knives this way :( I assume they either fell out or snagged on something. Not surprisingly, each of these knives had little tension in their pocketclips!

RIP My knives. I hope you're doing well.

Have an old Delica with the integral pocket clip fall out of my pocket several times before I just stopped carrying it. Would happen when I bent over or crouched. A couple of times I saw and heard it hit the ground. A couple of other times I didn't notice until a while later and then had to retrace my steps.

My Mini Grip has slid up a few times, but never completely out.

Had my Shuffle fall off (clipped to outside of pocket) a couple of times but both times I was in my own yard--once was when I was crouched (there it is again LOL) beside my dog while he relaxing on the grass and the other time I was cutting back overgrowth in my backyard with a machete. Both times I didn't notice until I'd walked away and had to retrace my steps.

Never ! I have had them catch on a seatbelt and chairs before bent the piss out of a sog clip on a chair I used to have it had to go. The chair and the sog;)

I caught the clip of a SOG Flash 2 on a fire extinguisher. Tore up the scale where the clip mounts. Clip never was the same.

I have had it happen when I am really active or Sometimes if I'm upside down or in an awkward position. Usually with carved pocket clips, not spring clips. Spring clips are the way to go, they hold on better and don't wear a hole in the fabric!

The literally dozens of knives I lost as a youth and teen before clips were available argue otherwise. ;)

Other's experience may differ, but not a single knife has been lost by me since I discovered the miracle of clips. :)
Glory be!

Honestly speaking, I seldom loose knives (clip or no clip). I misplace them and find them months later under something inside the house. Last knife I lost (actually I knew within an hour I left it) was about a year or so ago with a SAK. I left lie on the window sill at a motel that I was working at (contractor). Drove off and decided to just write that one off. Our experiences are not so different. But I have had knives clipped to a front pocket get snagged a pull out. Noticed them and didn't loose, but I could have.
