Your Knife For Social Gatherings ?

Whenever I'm in the company of easily spooked people, the "socially acceptable" knife I carry is a Case amber bone mini trapper. People feel warm and cuddly when they see it.
That's me. Until i start flipping it like a Bali then everyone walks away and I open this nice polished mini trapper. The more people who like it then they buy them. There all mine I say

For formal dress, slacks and nice shirt, I'll carry my ProTech Newport that is smooth an black in color. Very elegant, in my view.

Long time ago, I was in a similar discussion and the best explanation of how to determine/pick a dress/gents knife was given.

Ask yourself: What knife would Cary Grant carry?

I think he would carry a handful of slip joints, and a Japanese style Kwaken from Ben Tendic.... I'm sure of it!!!

Well, company Xmas parties I have not gone to in 10 years, never will do those or any other party. Other social gatherings, I usually drop in my pocket my keychain knife..a CS micro recon 1.
Just my immediate family and they are all pretty Conservative and can care less. So, whatever I feel like at get togethers.:)

I will usually carry a small slipjoint in addition to whatever large folder I may have at that time. It just makes navigating cutting chores easier when around other people who may be in close proximity.

I just carry my usual knives, which are a Victorinox Executive, a Victorinox Spartan (or Pioneer), and whatever one-hander I'm carrying. For the past several months, that's been my Spyderco Caribbean PE leaf blade. Either of the SAKs, especially the Executive, are very low-key in police company, and often go unnoticed in use.

I haven’t been to a formal thing in years. Last time I wore a tux was for my brother’s wedding. I think that was 8 years ago. I rarely even wear slacks.

All of that to say, I carry whatever, every day.

If it is formal wear or a funeral suit, I carry something with at least a black pocket clip, usually an all black knife. A PM 2, though I thought about getting the Emerson A100, as pictured before, for just such occasions. I understand why a pocketed slip-joint would be potentially preferable to people, but I do not carry one usually, and am generally comfortable carrying any of the folding knives I own. That being said, I recently purchased a Winkler F3 folder with curly maple handles to serve as a gentleman's knife for me. My thought was, and I think it was mentioned earlier, that you can't go wrong with wood.

Emerson tiger for my personal use but a griptilian with the grey g10 scales and blue liners and stand offs if i let someone use a knife. Or when Im around people i know for a fact wont like knives. Looks classy and everyone likes checking out the lock

When I went to church (haven't attended in a couple years since I have a knife fighting class Sunday morning)...

With friends I don’t really care but with strangers I usually have something non-knifey like multitool.

I avoid formal situations as a rule. Most of the dressier occasions I attend are fairly casual (call it business casual) in terms of dress, usually family events. A lot of folks in my family are carrying firearms (though I prefer not to), so knives are not anything to be bashful about. I usually carry my Dokka in its belt sheath at my right hip. The dark leather is nice and shows enough of those amber curly birch scales to start a conversation or two. For the more discreet events (say, non-family gatherings), I just got a Spyderco Chaparral with Raffir Noble scales. I removed the clip and made a leather slip. It will just ride in my right front pocket with change and keys.

The only social gathering i go to is a family one and I take a coast dx338.
