Your knives got burglarized. Starting over...

Most likely I would have had a Para2 on me that day for EDC... so given that, I would probably branch out a bit and try some new things, especially since I would have some insurance money to cover the lost knives! :)

That said, I would not replace a lot of them and would try some new things (and end up with a significantly smaller--but better overall quality--collection). Here's my *first* three I would buy to start building the collection again! :) (and we all know it wouldn't stop at three).

1) Hinderer XM-18 3.5" flipper (don't currently own one, but with the insurance money in hand it would be hard to resist... I would gladly sacrifice replacing a lot of the $40-$50 knives I currently own to subsidize an XM-18 purchase! :) )
2) Zero Tolerance ZT0550 (don't own yet, planning on buying soon)
3) Spyderco Manix2 (do own and would want to replace)

Honorable Mention (ie, ones I do own and would definitely replace).
-Spyderco Chaparral (though this time I would get the newer version in CTS-XHP)
-Spyderco Dragonfly2 G10
-Spyderco Ladybug3 Salt Hawkbill

-And I'd want at least one more Para2 as well--probably a Sprint Run! :)

Seriously?

After they admitted me to the psych ward and got my needs adjusted, I don't think they'd let me have any sharp pointy objects for awhile... ;)

But I'll play along, if I hafta replace any at home I'd get an old 80s Gerber Silver Knight, an old Case Camp/Utility Knife and another Swamp Rat, Howlin' Rat

This did happen to me...

I restarted with
Bradley Alias II Auto
Sog Mini Vulcan
Spyderco Tenacious

Now I have a safe bolted and won't ever have to restart...
but for fun sake...
I'd get
Small Sebenza 21 w/CF
Bradley Alias II Auto
Benchmade 470-1

Definitely the favs in my new collection

1. A good sharp skinning knife
2. A rusty screwdriver
3. A framing hammer

And the hope that the thief comes back for another haul..

Kershaw Titanium SG2 Junkyard Dog
CRK small Sebenza
Spyderco m390 Paramilitary II

done... I'm off to the pub

Well, as I store my collection in a bomb/water/fireproof safe, I don't have to worry about that, but if somehow someone manages to drill through my safe and survive the breast traps, well, here it goes.

1. Benchmade Morpho.
2. Greg Lightfoot LCC
3. A 'private investigator' to 'catch' the SOB.

I'd have my sprint run Military with CPM M4 in my pocket.

I'd buy a fully serrated SS handled Spyderco Police to repay the burglar :p
Spyderco Native as a running knife
Mora 711

Fences, custom made steel doors all hung hinge inside, custom made 24 foot wide 2 inch insulated steel garage door, that is hardwired to turn itself off except for one hour each day divided into 30 minute periods one when we leave everyday and one when we come back. If door won't open, we park on driveway and use other access. Custom steel door hardware is special custom made stainless steel heavy duty hardware all double key (no latch) dead bolt, 2 dead bolts different keys each door. I could go on, but I think you get the point and no I'm not kidding. Their safe, and I didn't even begin to talk about the dogs, but just one of them bit 6 people last summer. I"m more worried about a lawsuit than theft. I swear if I had the money I'd either put in a mote with gators or a vat or burning hot oil just for laughs, oh hell, both.

This assumes that the bottom-dwelling, no-life thief gets past our German Shepherd Dog and finds my hidden stash in the first place. I have a Gerber 600, serrated Endura and Camillus/Becker BK7 hidden where no one would think to look. Now, if the house burns down, or our property falls into a sinkhole, or a flood carries everything away, here's what I'd start over with:

Victorinox Classic that's always on my keyring.

1 - Multi-tool: Gerber 600, Leatherman Sidekick, etc.
2 - Spyderco serrated model: Endura, Police, one of the lockback types.
3 - Kabar/Becker BK7 or BK2.

I'd immediately buy a left handed Sebenza.

Next I'd get a Masamoto KS.

I'd likely then get a CF/ZDP Caly 3.5.

Guess i would start over with the knives thats in the mail getting here :P

ESEE 6

ESEE izula

And a Zero Tolerance 0560

I have had this happen to me (twice actually). It sucks big time, especially when most of your collection is customs. Insurance doesn't even begin to make up for the gut feeling you have from losing everything you have worked so hard to build. It is further compounded by the fact that the authorities (at least here) have never shown any concern or effort in finding the culprits. They could at least make a phone call to follow up. Anyway, I digress, I have picked myself back up and begun again. I will not let the low life @%*$% crooks stop me from having the things I love in my life.

Restart knives:
1. Benchmade Rukus
2. Zero Tolerance 0561
3. Spyderco Military or Paramilitary 2

Not to mention another slow but steady run of customs as funds permit. :)

I'd probably have my waved spyderco delica so i'd buy

1) kershaw leek composite
2) a regrind+custom scales for the delica
3) wilkins mini grip w/ M4 blade

I habitually carry three knives (a Vic Rambler on my keys, a small [usually a slip-joint] folder and a clipped one-hander) but the only knife I'm guaranteed to have on me when I leave the house is the Rambler. Assuming that my Rambler is the only one I have left, I'd have to choose the following for first replacement: CRK Large Sebenza 21 Insingo (plain), Victorinox alox Pioneer and probably a Case/Bose Coffin Jack.

Start off with hammer.
Find person who burglarized house.
Collection restored. :)
