YOUR most expensive production folder?

Man that’s really disappointing. I’m looking to pick up a Gen 6 because I heard the flipping action was much better. But now I’m skeptical:( Do you think you got a lemon?

I had two. Ever single generation comes with people proclaiming that "the detent is totally different now" and "this is the version that actually flips". As per always, however, they didn't change a thing; they just put bearings in them, and are still putting out knives with inconsistent and awful detents. The bearings are enough to make them open, just poorly. If you use bronze washers like most people seem to want to, then I'll bet you don't have great luck. Though there is a chance that you get one with a good detent, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Be careful when someone uses the term "always". 2 examples don't make always. I'm sure if you contact one of our supporting dealers (@whitty for example) they can help you pick out the perfect hinderer or any blade for that matter.

Fallkniven GP in desert ironwood (payed roughly 300 for it).

Is it 20 times better than my Opinels? Probably not. Is it 6 times better than my Bucks? Probably not either. But was it worth it? Hell yes! It has the best F&F I've seen on any production knife so far - it is just as close to perfect as you can reasonably expect it to be. I'm generally not a big fan of liner locks, but man this one is buttery smooth and clicks into place with authority. Plus the grain on the wood is just drop dead gorgeous.

In short, it makes me smile whenever I get it out of my pocket to cut whatever needs cutting - which makes it worth it for me.

My Chuck Richards Counselor 2.0 CF Damasteel. Such an incredible knife. Can't recommend Chuck's work enough.

I normally purchase used to save a few bucks and I don’t think I have ever hit $100 for a used folder.

Let’s see, ninety-eight and change for a Benchmade I think was the most I ever paid for a folder. $160 was tops for a fixed blade.

Most of my dream knives have a street price of about two bills or less.

I love the knife and carry it a lot, but I do wonder some days if it was really worth it, as I have sold pretty much all of the knives besides this one that I had that I felt were too highly valued.

Shiros did the same thing for me. I just can't feel the same about my other production knives

my most expensive production folder is a benchmade 9555 auto rift. bought it a a small local b&m and paid almost the full msrp of 260 for it. was one of those deals where i was there, it was there, and i’m sure y’all can guess the rest

I really like the look of this blade. May have to pick up his 3V model, just wish it came with the carbon scale too.

My small insingo inkosi with micarta, box elder mnandi and dgg SnG were all in the mid 400 range. Never gotten to $500. Most of my folders are sub 200 (and mainly spyderco)

Cold Steel American Lawman in CTS-XHP. Bought mine just last week, last three left in store! My most expensive knife thus far, which does kind of hint that my frugal nature really hinders how extravagant my collection can ever get.

The KnifeArt exclusive Small Sebenza CF Insingo finally has me feeling somewhat satisfied that I don't need to keep searching endlessly for the one. I have found joy in so many other knives, but this one is special... and you pay CRK for that feeling. I bought a large sebenza micarta first, but it's just too big in my pocket so I never carried it. The small fits better, and doesn't scare my non-knife carrying friends. I plan to carry the heck out of it until it becomes a part of me, but it's got some stiff competition in the knife drawer. Normally, I never know until morning which one I'll pick, but I'm fairly certain it's gonna be that small sebenza tomorrow!

That would be most of the ones I like.

If I like it, I know many others less fortunate will like it.

So, I end up buying quite a few of them over time for gifting.

Whether discontinued box full of original Spyderco Salts or Tatankas, or box full of discontinued Hinderers or box full Sebenzas, or ProTech X1Ms...whatever seems good and endangered.
