Three for the Road er, uh, River

Okay, maybe they are not the latest to arrive, but they are the most recent to find their way from the knife roll to the clean-up bench. The Cracked Ice in the center has actually been residing in that knife roll (in the condition I received it) for over forty years now. And, what with fishing season coming on, I finally decided to give them all a going over.

They all are in very good condition, showing signs of wear from years of use, as well as likely travelling in the bottom of a tackle box for many of those years. Say what you will about the quality or the fit & finish of an Imperial knife, but these knives walk, they talk, and they cut, like folding knives should. What more can I ask for? And, with a bit of spit & polish by hand, they look pretty nice too. Heavy staining reduced, but patina left intact. I see no reason to ruin a good knife just to make it glisten. I will not hesitate to use any one of them should I decide to wet a line in the river.

Top: Imperial with circa1946-1956 tang stamp. Secondary with scaler, hook disgorger, and bottle opener.
Center: Imperial with circa1946-1956 tang stamp. Secondary with scaler, hook disgorger, and bottle opener.
Bottom: Imperial with circa1956-1988 tang stamp. Secondary with scaler, hook disgorger, and bottle opener.

Oh, and I might add: I love that fish shield.

The Case bug has bitten me hard. I’m really drawn to the older stuff if I’m being honest. 1979 and earlier is what I have been after. Had zero not that long ago and now I have more than I’d like to admit 😂. Just recieved this nice little XX 40-64 coke bottle. A fine knife that is as snappy and as well made as anything I own. I’ve included a picture of the fast growing pile I have going 🤦🏻.

Love the dramatic coke bottle to that one. Great stuff Paul

Fell out of the mailbox yesterday. Checked out the construction - seems to be simple pins drilled out and tapped for torque screws. The knife is solid with no drips, runs, cracks, gaps, etc. with no blade wiggle up, down, sideways, or any other way. The burlap micarta covers feel good in the hand with a grippy feel. The Red Day Glow G-10 liners are a hoot. The S35VN blade is centered and as sharp as blue blazes.

Brought back from a local knife show today.

Had a vault release copperhead with the wharncliff blade, but decided that particular model wasn't for me. I have been regretting not buying a standard clip blade copperhead when they were readily available (I mean, cheap). I was able to score this one for a good price, just arrived today 😁
