Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Thanks Jack for the nice comment! I have a few much lower grade non Schrade Cell examples but these three were so nice I just couldn't pass them up. Lloyd

Luger The Christmas Tree Sleeveboard is hypnotic. Cell may be a 'Prince of Darkness' in scale materials:eek::D but it really glows when it's healthy. Look after them, long may they prosper:thumbup:

Thanks, Will

Welcome to the porch! :D

Just acquired this trio of vintage Schrade Cut Co celluloid handled folders. I know dangerous  (requires special storage protocols) but I just couldn't help myself they are so beautiful and in such high grade condition for Cell folders! The top one is a copper swirl slant bolster jack, next one is a Christmas tree pen and finally a Tortoise shell gunstock jack.

That gunstock is incredible. One of the patterns I've always liked but still don't own any examples of. I should remedy that soon, though I doubt I'll stumble across such an impressive Schrade.

Beautiful knives, Luger! Those covers have so much depth and pop to them.

My anxiety got the best of me while waiting for my wife to go into labor, and I wound up buying a few knives the night before she had the baby. Today, 3 out of the 4 knives arrived, and my goodness are they good examples of what Case can do. Fit and finish are great, and the coloration and jigging of the bone is great, as well. The only little niggle that I have is with the variation between the pile side and mark side of the Antique River Log Peanut. Still a beautiful knife, though. The Bermuda Green Peanut now matches my Bermuda Green Toothpick that I picked up on our Honeymoon. I guess Case's Bermuda Green will highlight major milestones in my life! Haha.

Beauties, I also find "retail therapy" an option during eventful times, so you are not alone on that front. I also buy knives to commemorate family highlights. Believe me, those will retain more than mere collector value to your family in the future; so well done, and congratulations on the new baby, (and the awesome Bermuda Green beauties).

In case I didn't mention it already, congratulations on the new little one! Good choices in Cases, too . The blue Wharnie mini-copper is exactly the same one I have (bought it to pair with a trapper with the same pants) and I really like it. The pile side of that river log 'nut is amazing, though; it reminds me of the OSD wood Beagles. I'm almost inclined to go snap one up right now but your comment regarding the mark side's got me curious. Do you have a pic of it?

The mark side is in and of itself very attractive, imo. It just doesn't match the (more attractive) pile side. And, truth be told, I picked up the Antique River Log because it reminded me so much of the OSR from GEC.

Yeah, it definitely has a resemblance. I've got a few knives (both Case and others) where the pile side outshines the mark side, including a stag Klaas with some weak-ish popcorn on the mark side and absolutely stunning grooves on the pile side (carrying it today, pile side pictured in the "traditional totes" thread today and mark side yesterday). There's a good amount of variance in many Case knives, so I'm somewhat used to it (my 11031SH from the mid-70s looks like two different knives depending on which side is up).

I really think I need a couple of those river log knives now...

Added another Humpback Stockman to the mix. I've been wanting a Harvest Orange version for some time now.

Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of blade etches but this one I actually like. Subtle and tastefully executed.

That's the prettiest harvest orange I've seen, Rick. I agree about the blade etch, too.

Yes, I do love the color on that pocket worn bone. Most you see have way to much white near the bolsters.

I was just going to comment on that Justin. The color of that one is very even and deep. Great new addition Rick. I thought that etch was actually a stamp in the blade at first.

Thanks guys. I agree about the coloring. Very well done and nicely matched on each side.

I'm not sure how to describe the etch. It appears to be a very shallow stamp. More like a light engraving but even holding it in my hand I can't tell for sure.

Here is one that came in the mail today, Schrade 861 with jigged delrin. It has been agressively polished somewhat recently but the blades are pretty full and have a nice snap. Somebody has done a number on the sheepsfoot blade but it is still quite usable.

The second pic shows why I took a chance on it...coined liners!! Those have also been either buffed or pocket worn away but it still puts a smile on my face.

Not every day you see one of these with nickel silver liners. Not bad for $30 bucks.

It will make a great user.
