Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

German Bull Barlow with one-handed "razor" blade.

Nice looking pair, Greg. Both by A. Wright?

Thanks, Dean. Yes, they're both by A. Wright. I'd been admiring Jack Black and Rachel's A. Wright lambsfoot pictures and the Ettrick seemed like a good companion to keep the lambsfoot company during its journey across the pond.

Greg The horn does look nice on those Wrights, how's the general quality? F&F W&T ?

Thanks, Will

I bought a bunch of knives that arrived last week, and I guess I'll spread them out over several days in this thread. Most of them can be found in other appropriate threads, too.
I bought a trio of Rough Rider stag canoes. I already have one, so I'm not sure why I'm starting to stockpile them!

I also picked up a new Rough Rider brown sawcut bone canoe:

I like the look of that brown sawcut GT. It's like the guy making the knife was polishing one of the bolsters and went too far over, smoothing out the end of the sawcut. Well the damage was done, so he just did the same to the other ends as well. Kinda cool!

On both, the buffalo horn is well shaped and mounted and the pins are flush and uniform. Both have some minor gaps between the liners and springs at the edges, but nothing through which you can see light. The blades have great snap, no wobble, and require a stout pull to open. The pull on the Ettrick is similar to my Queen #48 Whittler. The lambsfoot is a bit stronger.

I'm pleased with them and am looking forward to putting them to use!

I got lucky and snagged a 2016 GEC #15 Boy's Knife in stainless from the recent short run. It's my first knife with these covers, and I love everything about it.

Thanks, Jake; nice description of the unique "finish" on that canoe. The fluted bolsters are maybe a little too much "bling" for my taste, but they look a lot better to me in person than they do in most photos of Rough Rider's fancy sawcut bone series.

Here are more knives from my recent buying binge. A couple of small single-spring Rough Riders: a baby copperhead and a half whittler.

I also acquired a Zorro Barlow made by the Novelty Knife Co.

Congratulations! It's a looker for sure. How are you liking the stainless?

Thanks! I like the stainless just fine so far. :)

I don't own any non-stainless traditionals. It's exciting to be able to look forward to current GEC stainless production!

Just received this gorgeous Queen-made Schatt and Morgan Physician's Knife from user travisatwood! It is perfect! Number 875 of 1609 produced for the NKCA as the 2000 Club Knife. The wood handles are deep and rich. I need to get a pic of them in the sunlight.

Having had no luck finding a defect-free Trapper in time for this weekend's camping trip, I picked up an Opinel #8 in stainless. I haven't owned one of these in 15-20 years, and through this forum I've gotten curious about them again. :)

Green with envy here. I've struck out on a number of those Schatt NKCA doctor's knives. I generally prefer the docs with the pill spatulas instead of a secondary pen blade, or no secondary at all, and almost every example I've seen of the S&M has been nicer than any other doc knife I own (except maybe my antique bone Case Bros. baby doc). Excellent find. I wish I knew how you guys swing this stuff on the Exchange...

Since it doesn't seem like a knife forum unless someone's getting upset about someone else's choice, I'll fill in for the "someone".

Shoulda got the carbon blade! Stainless is an abomination! Rabblerabblerabble! ;) :D

That Opi should serve you well. The #8 is, at least in my meathooks, the "ideal" Opi size. I love my #6, don't get me wrong, but between my carbon #8 and my stainless #8 garden knife there's almost no reason to have any other friction folder (well, besides the Knife Knuttery we all suffer from :o). Enjoy your camping trip!

Thanks, TsarBomba! I really lucked out and had my patience rewarded. Now I need to stay off of the Exchange and the usual vendor websites until the Beer Scouts are released. I've bought something like 25 knives so far this year, and my wife is none too pleased with me about it. :grumpy: :(

Friedrich Hartkopf sportsknife. I had a little exciting moment as my baggage got lost in flight and the knife was there (bought from München) but the baggage was found and is coming in. Too pretty knife to lose!
