Alan, the Case whittler is a split spring design. So the two secondary blades are on individual springs which taper down to the other end where the main blade utilizes both springs. The center liner acts as and is shaped in a wedge. Overall it's a very compact design and only very slightly thicker than the single spring Norfolk.
I can completely understand the need to prioritize the budget for upcoming knives.![]()

Picked up this lil guy from G L Drew here in the Knifemaker's Exchange. Overall length of 7" with an edge just under 3" made of 3/32" 52100. Cocobola handles, mill left on the flats, brass pins holding it together, and packaged in a pretty nice little sheath. I'm currently using it as my dinner knife.

This one in particular is thinner than most two blade knives I own.
Two last week; an older Buck 121 at a pawnshop on Thursday and a GEC #74 AAPK Annual Club Knife on Saturday. OH
