Oops. Sorry, GEC Bone Works does their scale preparation and jigging on site now, as I understand it. Since this cougar cut has deep "grooves" I thought it was a funny comment. But, I'm usually only entertaining to myself:cool:

No worries was just trying to figure out if it was a compliment or maybe a not ...
Regardless I like the deep grooves [emoji846]

Definitely a compliment. If I wasn't so deep in right now, I would order one of those. That is special bone.

I won't lie, I laughed really hard when I pulled this tube out of the box! It is comically large.

It's contents sure are pretty, though.

H731 Bird & Trout in Tortoise Shell acrylic. My first GEC fixed blade and my first Tortoise Shell knife. Great proportions, great weight, great blade geometry. The sheath is nice. It's a bit light in color and the belt loop is huge, but I'm sure I can get it a bit darker and will never belt carry it.

For size comparison, here it is next to my 77 Washington Jack.

Anyone else pick up one of the new H73s?

I have Red Linen Micarta H732 Canoe on the way. Can't wait for that to arrive.

Here's a Case Half Congress that I won in one of leghog's downsizing GAWs. It arrived on Wednesday, I took some photos on Thursday, edited the pics sometime Friday, and here they are. It's a CASE XX 6269 half congress from the 1940-1964 era with red jigged bone covers, slightly mismatched in color, and sheepsfoot/pen blades on opposite ends of a single spring. Beautiful knife IMHO. Thanks very much for your generosity, leghog!

Gary that's a grand old Case XX. A wonderful prize I might add! I just happen to know of another thread where that jewel would be right at home. :D

Thanks, Ron. :) I love that thread you referred to, and I think the same day my half-congress arrived, Charlie posted a very similar knife there. I have a couple of other knives I'd like to post there this weekend, too, but it's almost bedtime for this old man!:D

Indeed it is. Being retired can get boring. If it weren't for a few hobbies like my knives, for example; I would go a little nuts. I'm really trying to hold off until my T.A. Davison's arrive.... please! :p

Realistically probably another month. I won't last that long before I buy another knife. I do have a couple modern folders that I am planning on selling.

Much respect Sir for holding off as long as you have [emoji106]

That is really nice to have a sample of some of the best that Case has produced GT.

Thanks, Paul & Harry. :)
I think one of the main reasons I became interested in pocket knives 3 years ago was a nostalgia factor. So I think that's why I enjoy an old knife like that Case from leghog even more than the many fine (well, I think they're fine, anyway :D) new knives I've picked up.

I'm excited to have this on the way to me. Snagged it on flea bay on Super Bowl Sunday when nobody was paying attention.

3.5" blades, maroon micarta. This stuff is cool, looks black in shadows and maroon or red in light. The pins are flush and seamless with the scales. Excellent fit and finish as expected from Ruple.
