It's surprising the quality of those old Camco knives for the price back in the day. I had an advertising piece just like that one that I gifted and the blades where solid, sharp with no play and the f&f was really good. I like the tipped bolsters as well...NICE knife:cool::thumbup:

Will have to take better photos later. Lighting sucks right now.

Queen Large Congress in Amber Carved Stag Bone and D2. Lovely knife, but y'all weren't kidding about Queen's bevels needing work. These blades are more chamferred than they are sharpened.

Beautiful knife and a great photo. I've been wanting a nice Congress for some time now but haven't bought one yet. A Queen just like yours is at the top of my list.

How was the rest of the fit&finish on your knife ? I'm interested in picking up another D2 blade Queen. The one I have is from years back and I'm wondering about their current QC. Thanks

It's fantastic on this knife, though it's not new. I think it's circa 08 or 09. Bought from CollectorKnives.net

Those Queen D2 knives from the early years of this century have very satisfying F&F. It just the often appalling edges that are the drag(literally!) Mind you, the Muskrat I have came with nice thin grinds and sharp.

Current Queen knives do no appeal to me so much, I don't like their shields, blades, etching and the F&F is dicey, I regret to say. This despite all the hoo-haa about change of ownership back in 12.

I have a couple Queens from the cocobolo line (a small stockman and a whittler) I think they were made in the early aughts. Beautiful knives, but I was just learning how to sharpen at the time and I spent days putting an edge on all those little blades. Then I was hesitant to use them because I didn't want to deal with that D2 steel again. I'm better at sharpening now, so I'm sure it wouldn't be so difficult for me, but it's like I was traumatized or something. :D

I have a D2 Queen stockman that's from a Northwoods SFO (not current branded ones by GEC). It has convexed edges & I'd do the same on a new one.

I can't complain. I bought the knife already aware of the issues with the bevels.

I bought it with the intention of using it as a whittler and am just deciding whether I want to regrind the blades altogether or just backbevel to thin out the edge.

Just ordered and it's in its way. Anyone have an opinion on these knives ?
Sorry about dealer pic

Schatt & Morgan Mountain Man. Absolutely the best lockup of any lock back I've ever seen, from what I've heard this is kind of an abnormality. Love this knife. Perfect size

About five weeks ago I traded my favorite traditional ( natural micarta #77) for a fixed blade knife. I have been traveling for work and finally got the opportunity to get it in hand and enjoy it. I've carried the same fixed blade every day for the past seven years and was looking for a change. I'm happy to say that this Kabar with bacote handles exceeded my expectations in every possible way. Absolutely love the knife and it now joins me on a daily basis. Thank you TilleyKnife for such a great trade. To ease the pain of not having natural micarta in my pocket I was able to order a new #71 as one of a few knives I feel good about putting to hard work.

Borrowed this top pick which led to the trade but I promise to get some of my own as soon as I have some better weather.

The #71
