I got this Grohmann Slimline in the mail today. It's quite nice overall. I wanted a pocketable stainless steel knife for the summer, and I didn't own any Canadian made knives, so I thought it was worth a shot.

I've been holding back on purchases lately because I have an order with Ryuichi Kawamura that's done however EMS is suspended in Japan indefinitely and I believe he's waiting for it to resume before shipping... With that being up in the air and the knife bug itching bad I was actively searching for a new addition that wouldn't break the bank in case of a postal miracle in Japan... I wasn't finding anything that jumped out at me until Mr. Wilburn posted this beauty on Instagram and to my surprise it was available. I basically sent him a DM saying "take my money now!" This is my 2nd Wilburn trapper and I have got to say I'm so impressed by the man's work. I notice a level of refinement on this new one-- for one he is bringing the edge of the blade much closer to the kick ... I think it makes the knife look "fuller" and improves the overall flow of the design... The swedge isn't quite as aggressive as the stag trapper..I like the swedge on both equally. . The bolsters are also slightly thinner on the ivory knife. Both are fantastic and I feel fortunate to have two examples of his work in my collection. I believe he made the stag trapper in 2018 and the contemporary mammoth is recent. They both cut like you'd imagine! That's gorgeous.I respectfully disagree:

That's gorgeous.
Almost as pretty as those GEC TSA SFO's.![]()
This knife arrived yesterday from Switzerland, and while I’m sure most folks wouldn’t give this scruffy old knife a second look, I’m over the moon.
This is a “proto-Pioneer,” from 1957-1961, which—with a change to the awl/reamer—became the 1961 Soldier and its civilian counterpart, the Pioneer. This is the first of the Alox knives, the one that got the train rolling.

I’m not a collector. I use my knives. Sheesh, this will be a hard decision.
