Your newest addition:traditionals of course!

Got to open a surprise package from paulhilborn upon arriving home from a week away. Paul reached out on the porch and asked if he could gift me a vintage knife, a very kind offer that I couldn't refuse no doubt. Well that scoundrel sent two knives.:D Both knives are quite nice in great patterns with that cool aged bone that screams vintage and very good blade action and keen edges. Voos bareheaded with that pocket worn bone that shows character and a Camillus with an equal amount of character in blades and bone. Many thanks Paul for you're kindness and generosity.
Hopefully you can see my satisfaction in the pic of my wrinkled old mug. :)View attachment 1452092View attachment 1452094
Hey, glad you like em Greg and you make them look much better than I ever could:D

Kutmaster.

My least implausible theory is that minor celluloid damage was mostly absorbed by the paper labels under the clear covers.

I found this image of seeds encased in resin, something like this would make interesting covers for an old promotional knife for seeds :D
That would be cool.
If Northrup produced thistle seed.
Somebody makes handle material out of resin encased corn-cob.
Or maybe I can saw a couple covers out of this split of walnut I've been saving for who knows what since I was 13 or so.

I can almost guarantee looking at that peice of walnut it has some really nice figuring.:thumbsup:

Very nice! I really like Boker Barlows, where did you find that one?

Not sure I can list the website, I have to see if it is on the approved list. I'll be back in a bit.

edit - not on the list. It is the Boker Barlow Expedition, and it's a new model. Boker also has a new Barlow Prime Expedition. Olive green canvas micarta and bead-blasted brass liners and bolsters, the blade on mine is a matte finish as well.

edit 2 - forgot to say "Thank you!".

Very nice Micarta Boker Barlow.:thumbsup:

I think those were exclusive to a seller across "The Pond".

Thanks!

I did buy mine through a US retailer. But, haven't seen it at any other of the sites I normally watch. Yet (hopefully?).

Dang you! I had this bad boy in my cart along with two others, but I decided I didn’t need three new Boker barlows and let this one go. I’m regretting it a bit now, lol.

on the plus side, I’ll have a Boker barlow in bog oak and a Boker barlow in curly birch to show off tomorrow. :)

Looking forward to seeing them - I bet that curly birch is going to look really nice.

They do look great, I have the green one and the brown one. Only thing is the gold shield, not real crazy about that.

Just got in the castle berg boker club. It doesnt seem as nice as the ironwood version but it does have the lower price tag. The wood being from the ancestral home of the counts von berg is a real kicker to me as the counts are my ancestors (nothing too special most people here probably descend from them too).

That's nice, I think it's better than the Ironwood, b/c of the history and I like oak.
I have the small Barlow version and I'm very happy with it.

I think it looks good, nice choice.

I agree with Scott J regarding the history aspect.

I also have the small castle wood barlow, and like it quite a bit.
