Ugly knife, that's what it is called😃
There's a story to this 1, knifemaker Scott Mackenzie a while back he wanted a new shop knife for himself, does saddlery ad well. He made this which he dubbed the ugly knife. Scott knows I really liked the sheepsfoot profile on it, Anyway Scott it taking a break from everyhing, another story.
Yesterday afternoon I recieved a package fom Scott. Inside the box was the ugly knife he gifted it to me, how awesome is that😃😃😎😎
A present to treasure & make me smile when I using it.

Does that “lip” have a function? Cool gift nevertheless!

This one
I paid for it so it’s mine but it hasn’t arrived yet 😙
I also ordered a yellow Case slimline trapper.
I decided to have my name engraved on them, that’s a first for me. Thinking future great-grandkids can look at these heirlooms and say, “these belonged to great-grandpa back in early 21st” 😎

Haven't been around for a while. Hope everyone is well and happy.

As some of you may know, I help out at a friends shop. Have been for 35+ years now. Big (and little) boys toy store. And for most of that time, I've always tried to make sure we carry a few traditional knives. Not that we get asked for them very often. Even Victorinox and Wenger have fallen by the wayside. To the point where there won't be any traditionals in the shop for years at a stretch. Not to say some won't walk in from time to time. Most recently latched on to this Imperial EZ Open Jack;

It's in fair shape, still has a strong pull and decent snap on both blades, hasn't been over-sharpened and has a lovely patina. Found at the bottom of a box of black-powder accoutrements.

I haven't done anything to it but oil the joints. Not sure I'll clean it up very much, and the lanyard stays.

As far as carrying "pocket knives" in the shop, we may be going through another drought. We had to make room for some other stock and the traditionals we have had been sitting around for a while and needed to find a home.

Knowing full well that I am afflicted with a serious case of "can't-pass-up-a-good-deal-on-knives", I received an irresistible offer on what was there. Mostly Cases, a few Mcustas, and a Puma. Instant collection! Some are oddballs (I didn't do the ordering for this bunch) but decent knives all.

And heavens-to-Murgatroyd, not a peanut in the bunch. A few extra Copperheads, but at least they're CV's.

Thanks for indulging me, I don't often get to share with like-minded folk.

This also gives me a chance to fiddle with the new phone (I took a Galaxy S6 Active about as far as one can go)

May the porch be with you...

Beautiful patina on that knife, and nice the blades have not been manhandled. I often see nice looking knives on Swedish eBay with blades reduced to semi-toothpicks. It’s a sad story really 😉

Also, what childish happiness I would indulge in if I found a knife like that in the bottom of some box in a basement or an attic. 😍

I don’t know if I’ll ever carry it.

I'll carry it off for you....😍

Astounding find, wish they'd do more of that Acrylic it's really eye-catching. It IS a dilemma with a rare & beautiful knife; one hand you yearn to carry it and get the pride of ownership and use. On the other, it's just so easy to lose a knife that you carry however careful you are.....

Thanks, Will

Thanks, looking back at prior production way before I got interested in slipjoints, it seems like they used to do more acrylics and it has tapered off. Yea I’m wierd, if I carry it then it won’t be NIT, but I have no plans on ever selling it so who cares? Internal new knife struggle lol.
